NASCAR EXPERT BETS - GOODYEAR 400

For this week's Goodyear 400 on Sunday May 12, 2024 from Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina, our auto racing experts are focusing on the below individuals:

  • Tyler Reddick
  • Ross Chastain
  • Ricky Stenhouse, Jr.
Tyler Reddick Top 5 Finish (+120)

Reddick ranked second in driver rating last fall, and finished 2nd to Kyle Larson. He had 27 fastest laps with 90 laps led from the third starting position. He has finished top five in three of the four races here with the Next-Gen car. This is a great track type for Reddick. His downside is he likes to run the wall, and he will push it too much sometimes. He gets the benefit of the #1 pit stall, and I think he has the upside to win this race.

Ross Chastain Race Winner (+2200)

Looking through recent data here, Chastain typically has good long run speed. In practice, he had great fall off, and he had good long run speed. Chastain ranks 5th in speed in the four Next-Gen races here. He's averaging 29.5 fastest laps in those four races, which is the second most behind Truex. Like Truex, Chastain doesn't have the finishes. If he can put together a full race without issues, he has the upside to win. My model is showing value on Chastain at 22/1.

Ricky Stenhouse Top 10 Finish (+400)

I love the pain of betting Stenhouse, and I'm going to be doing it again this weekend. Stenhouse is strong on steep tracks and continues to run well at Darlington. He ranks 16th in speed at Darlington in the four races with the Next-Gen car. He's finished 16th or better in three of those four races, and the race he didn't he finished 35th. He has the upside to finish top 10 if he doesn't have any issues. With that said, his nickname is Wrecky, but that's why we're getting the 4/1 line. My model is showing value after practice on this line.
