Tech Trends – Week 2

TCU at SMU...SMU has lost last 6 SU in Metroplex war, and not closer than 19 last five meetings. Sonny Dykes just 12-21 last 33 as dog at Cal and SMU.

LIBERTY at ARMY... Army just 4-9 as Michie chalk past three seasons, 8-14 overall as chalk since Monken arrived.

UAB at COASTAL CAROLINA...UAB won and covered this matchup in 2017. Blazers now 11-4-1 last 16 on board for Clark.

GEORGIA TECH at SOUTH FLORIDA...Paul Johnson no covers last six as visiting chalk. USF 7-4 last 11 as dog.

WESTERN MICHIGAN at MICHIGAN...Harbaugh just 1-6 last 7 as Ann Arbor chalk. Also no covers last three at home vs. non-Big Ten, and 7-14 vs. spread last 21 overall. Broncos 12-7 last 19 as dog.

APP STATE at CHARLOTTE... App was 8-1 as road chalk 2015-16 before slumping to 1-4 in role last season. 49ers entered 2018 on 5-10 spread slide.

EASTERN MICHIGAN at PURDUE...Eagles an awesome 10-1 as visiting dog the past two seasons, 14-2-1 overall as short since 2016. Brohm 28-16-1 last 45 vs. line with WKU & Purdue, including NU loss. Boilermakers have also covered last five vs. non-Big Ten.

NEW MEXICO at WISCONSIN...Paul Chryst now 10-5-1 as DD chalk since 2016 after non-cover vs. WKU. Badgers are 20-10-1 overall vs. spread since late 2015, however. Davie just 4-7 vs. line away since 2016.

AIR FORCE at FAU... Lane Kiffin is 0-4 SU in reg.-season with FAU vs. FBS non-CUSA foes. All but 1 of Owls' 9 BCS covers LY vs. C-USA. AFA 7-2 as visiting dog since 2015 and 13-6 overall as dog since 2014.

FIU at ODU...ODU has won SU last two years. FIU just 4-8-1 last 13 vs. line away (2-4 LY for Butch). Monarchs, however, just 1-5 vs. line at Norfolk LY after 5-0-1 as host in 2016.

DUKE at NORTHWESTERN...Home team has won and covered last two years in series, and Pat Fitz 9-5 as Evanston chalk since 2015. Cats also on 9-game SU win streak after Purdue win. Cutcliffe, however, on extended 20-11-1 run as dog since 2013.

MISSISSIPPI STATE at KANSAS STATE..Bill Snyder 4-8 overall vs. number at Manhattan since 2016.

ARIZONA at HOUSTON...If Cougs chalk note just 7-14-1 vs. line in role past two years. Also 7-13-1 last 21 on board overall, though did win and cover at Tucson LY. Under Rich-Rod, Cats were just 2-12 as visiting dog past four years, Sumlin 5-8 in that role past five years.

NEVADA at VANDERBILT... Derek Mason just 1-6 vs. line against non-CUA, non-SEC opposition as chalk since arriving in 2014. Mason 6-8 as chalk overall that span. Pack 6-2 last 8 vs. line after Portland State romp.

GEORGIA STATE at NC STATE...GSU 19-5 as visiting dog since 2013 (though only 1-1 in role LY for Shawn Elliott). NCS 0-5 as Raleigh chalk since LY.

UCLA at OKLAHOMA...Chip was 3-2 as rare dog at Oregon 2009-12, but Bruins just 3-9 last 12 in role (Mora for all but bowl LY). UCLA 0-8-1 last 9 vs. line non-conference entering 2018.

NEW MEXICO STATE at UTAH STATE...Tough start to 2018 for NMSU with pair of SU and spread Ls before August complete. Rematch of NMSU win at Arizona Bowl . Utags 5-2 as home chalk the past two seasons.

KANSAS at CENTRAL MICHIGAN... CMU 5-4 as DD chalk for Bonamego. KU 5-10-1 as road dog for Beaty since 2015.

UTEP at UNLV... Miners 5-11-1 as road dog the past three years, something Dimel must improve upon. Miners just 2-10-1 vs. line overall since last season.

MEMPHIS at NAVY... Early American showdown! Navy has covered all three meetings since 2015, athough Mids only 1-6 vs. spread last 7 at Annapolis.

NORTH CAROLINA at EAST CAROLINA... Pirates just 6-17-1 vs. line past two years under Scottie Montgomery. Only 2-5 as home dog LY (3-9 overall as dog in 2017...which was all games!). UNC did cover last four down stretch in 2017 after 1-7 mark first 8 vs. line. UNC 5-2 as road chalk since 2015.

RUTGERS at OHIO STATE...Former OSU assistant Ash has been buried past two years by Bucks by a combined 114-0! ‘Gers however was 4-1 as road dog last season (4-3 overall getting DD). Bucks have won and covered all four meetings since 2014, combined score 220-24!

BUFFALO at TEMPLE...Owls also started slow LY (no covers first 4). Temple 0-4 as home chalk since LY. UB 6-1-1 last 8 as dog.

GEORGIA at SOUTH CAROLINA...Kirby Smart now 10-1 vs. line last 11 away from Athens. UGa has won last three in series all by 14 or more. Muschamp, however, 7-1 as dog last season, though only 3-5 vs. spread last 8 at Williams-Brice.

BAYLOR at UTSA... Rhule actually covered 3 of 5 as visitor in otherwise disastrous 2017 for Bears. Though Bears only 4-10 as chalk post-Art Briles. Frank Wilson 7-4 as dog with UTSA since 2016.

ARKANSAS STATE at ALABAMA...This has been the flat spot for Nick, as he’s 2-8-1 vs. line last 11 at home vs. non-SEC BCS opposition since 2011. Saban has also covered just one of last six in Game 2. Ark State 13-8 last 21 on board, 3-2 last 5 as DD dog.

COLORADO at NEBRASKA...Coach Mac was 7-2 as visiting dog prior to LY when Buffs slipped to 1-3 in role. Also CU was on 15-6 spread uptick into LY before 3-9 vs. spread in 2017, but bounced back nicely vs. Colo State in opener. Scott Frost only covered 2 of last 7 (2-4-1) in 2017 with UCF and 7-7-1 last 18 15 vs. spread with Knights. Huskers were 5-9-1 as Lincoln chalk for Riley past three years.

ULM at SOUTHERN MISS...Matt Viator 7-3 as DD dog the past two years for ULM. Jay Hopson just 4-8 as DD chalk for USM since arriving in 2016.

BALL STATE at NOTRE DAME...Cards only 1-5 as road dog LY after 5-0 mark in previous 2016 for Neu. Also just 1-6 as DD dog LY. Brian Kelly 7-3 laying DD past two years (though only 5-7 as home chalk that span).

IOWA STATE at IOWA... Hawkeyes have now won last 3 SU in Cy-Hawk but series has been mostly competitive in recent years. ISU had covered 8 of previous 9 at Iowa City prior to loss in 2016. Matt Campbell 11-6-1 as dog with Cyclones and 6-1 vs. spread away LY. Ferentz 13-22-1 as Iowa City chalk since 2012.

MARYLAND at BOWLING GREEN...Jinks 0-5 vs. line as host LY part of underwhelming 7-18 vs. spread overall since taking over Falcs in 2016. BG only 2-5 as DD dog in 2017 too.

UMASS at GEORGIA SOUTHERN...Eagles just 2-6-1 vs. line at Statesboro past two seasons, much of that however with since-dismissed HC Summers. UMass won this one 55-20 LY. If Minutemen happen to be dog note 8-2 spread mark on road in role past two seasons (8-4 overall vs. line on road).

CLEMSON at TEXAS A&M...Jimbo lost last 3 SU vs. Dabo but did cover two of those with Noles. Clemson only 5-5 vs. spread as visitor past two years and just 1-4 vs. line last five as visitor against non-ACC foes. Dabo 7-11 as visiting chalk since 2014. A&M only 4-9-2 as dog past three years.

WYOMING at MISSOURI...Bohl 12-5 as dog since 2016, though just 6-6 vs. spread as visitor that span. Also 1-3 vs. line last four as visitor vs. non-MW. Mizzou covered 7 of last 8 in reg season LY and if DD chalk note Odom 5-1 in role since 2016.

VIRGINIA at INDIANA... Mendenhall just 8-11 as dog at UVa after mostly better success in role at BYU. Hoosiers 3-0 as Bloomington chalk LY and also romped 34-17 at Charlottesville.

KENTUCKY at FLORIDA...UK hasn’t beaten Florida SU since 1986! Cats also 2-9 vs. line last 11 in series (though did cover LY). Dan Mullen 8-1 SU last nine years vs. UK while with MSU.

UTAH at NORTHERN ILLINOIS...Utes 8-3 vs. line as visitor since 2016 and have covered five straight as visitor vs. non-Pac 12. Huskies 1-2 in rare DeKalb dog role since 2012.

FRESNO STATE at MINNESOTA...Tedford 6-0 as dog last season and 7-0-1 vs. spread away from Dog House in 2017. Gophers 5-8 as home chalk since 2016 counting NMSU win (Fleck 3-3).

ARKANSAS at COLORADO STATE...Ater CU blowout loss, Rams have now failed to cover 9 straight since mid 2017. Hogs however haven’t covered as visiting chalk since Petrino days of 2010 (0-5) and just 7-14-1 overall vs. spread entering 2018.

CINCINNATI vs. MIAMI-OHIO (at Paul Brown Stadium)...Cincy has won 11 of last 12 SU in this long-time local rivalry though has dropped 3 of last 5 vs. line against RedHawks. Bearcats entered 2018 only 9-19 last 28 on board (that counts UCF as a loss LY even if no payout due to lightning).

TULSA at TEXAS...Horns were a different team after opener LY covering 8 of next 12. Though Tom Herman only 1-4 as Austin chalk LY. Tulsa just 3-6 vs. spread down stretch LY.

SOUTH ALABAMA at OKLAHOMA STATE...Gundy 10-12-1 since 2014 in once-profitable DD chalk role, also 10-10-1 as Stillwater chalk that span. USA entered 2018 on 11-21 spread skid but covered opener.

PENN STATE at PITT...Road team has covered last two years in series though home side won SU in each. James Franklin only 2-2 as visiting chalk LY after 3-0 mark in role in 2016. Nittany Lions still 19-9 vs. spread since 2016 and James Franklin 10-3 vs. spread away from Happy Valley that span. Narduzzi just 6-14 vs. spread at Heinz Field since arriving in 2015.

USC at STANFORD...Trojans beat Tree twice SU LY but Stanford 9-4 last 13 vs. spread in series. SC 3-9 as visiting dog since 2012 and Helton 4-12 vs. points since late 2016.

CAL at BYU...Cal likely chalk here so Wilcox’s 7-3 dog mark LY likely won’t apply, but Bears did enter 2018 on 9-4 spread run (8-4 LY).

UCONN at BOISE STATE...Broncos covered a few late LY on blue carpet but home chalk mark still pretty bad past several years (13-32 since late 2010). Edsall was 3-2 as road dog in UConn return LY, was 7-2 last 9 in that role for Huskies back in 2009-10.

MICHIGAN STATE at ARIZONA STATE...Dantonio just 1-8 as visiting chalk since 2015. MSU had been 4-15 as chalk 2015-16 before recovering to 6-3 LY. Under Herm predecessor Graham, ASU 5-2 as Tempe dog past two years.

SAN JOSE STATE at WASHINGTON STATE...Spartans a tough sell, now 5-9-1 last 15 vs. line since late 2016, 4-8 last 12 as road dog (2-5 for Brennan LY). No covers last four as non-MW visitor, outscored 199-40 in those. Leach 7-4 as Pullman chalk since 2016 (6-6 laying DD since 2016).

RICE at HAWAII...Hatfield used to own June Jones, covered all six from 1999-2004. UH entered 2018 on 4-18-1 spread skid at Aloha Stadium, but Bows have won and covered first two TY.
