Betting on the Utah State Aggies

College football has a strong tradition in Utah due to teams such as Utah State. The Aggies have built a large and thriving fan base across the entire Mormon State. However, the team’s football betting base remains in states with legal sports betting.

Utah State Aggies Team Overview

The Utah State Aggies played their first football season in 1912. Two years later, they became members of the Rocky Mountain Conference (RMC) along with the Utah Utes to form a natural rivalry. The Aggies played in the RMC through the 1937 season.

Moving to the Mountain States Athletic Conference (MSAC), E Lowell Romney was the Aggies’ head coach from 1938 until 1948. His claim to fame was guiding Utah State to the Raisin Bowl in 1946.

Utah State joined Utah and BYU in the Skyline Conference in 1948. After playing as an Independent from 1962 to 1977, the football program joined the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA) the following year.

The team’s next move was into the Big West followed by a brief two-year stint in the Sun Belt. The Aggies also played in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) from 2005 to 2012 before finally settling into the Mountain West Conference as its current home.

Under head coaches such as Gary Anderson, Matt Wells and Blake Anderson, the Aggies have enjoyed their greatest success on the football field. Utah State reached No. 16 in the final Associated Press Top 25 in 2012 after going 11-2.

The Aggies were also nationally ranked in 2018 (No. 22) and 2021 (No. 24). Over the course time, Utah State has won 12 conference championships and appeared in 14 major bowls. The highest national ranking in team history was No. 10 with a 9-1-1 record in 1961.

Playing in the Mountain West, a heated rivalry exists against the Boise State Broncos as another prominent conference member in the Mountain Division. You could also add the Air Force Falcons to this list.

If the Aggies were playing the Falcons, legal betting action might lean towards the OVER on the college football total line. If that betting line was set at 54 points, these two teams would have to combine for at least 55 points in scoring to win that bet.
