2025 World Series Futures Odds: Blue Jays Supplant Dodgers as Favorite
World Series odds for 2025 just got a lot more interesting, with the postseason now well into the Fall Classic. The favorite just flipped.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, favored in odds to win the World Series almost all season, relinquished that role by losing Game 5. So the Toronto Blue Jays lead the best-of-7 series 3-2 and now head home for Game 6 and, if necessary, Game 7.

LATEST UPDATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers were favorites in BetMGM's World Series odds before Game 1 and after every game that followed through the first four games. But the Toronto Blue Jays closed the gap by winning Game 4, then took over by claiming Game 5.
Toronto pounded out a 6-1 victory Monday. Starter Trey Yesavage was the hero with 12 strikeouts, a World Series rookie record, as the Blue Jays won two of three in L.A. Toronto is now on the precipice of its first championship since 1993.
As a result, BetMGM moved its World Series futures odds to Blue Jays -250/Dodgers +200. Before Game 5. Before Game 5, it was Dodgers -190/Blue Jays +155.
BetMGM would be fine with a Toronto title, but would like to see two games north of the border this weekend.
"We'll definitely be cheering for the Jays to come back and win the series, ideally in seven games. We'd love the additional handle that comes with a seven-game series," BetMGM senior trader Hal Egeland said.
Game 6 is Friday night, but odds aren't yet on the board.
As noted above, Los Angeles was on top of the World Series odds board almost all season, opening +400. On the flip side, Toronto opened +6000 last October. Anyone holding a 60/1 ticket is probably feeling pretty good right now.
World Series MVP odds are also in motion. Shohei Ohtani had a chance to put a stranglehold on the honor, as the Game 4 starter after a huge Game 3 (two homers/two doubles).
But he had an un-Ohtani outing, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk in six-plus innings, with six strikeouts. And in Game 5, Ohtani went 0-for-4.
Prior to Game 4, Ohtani was out to a -300 favorite in odds to win World Series MVP. Post-game 4, Ohtani was -165, with Toronto standout Vladimir Guerrero Jr. closing fast at +290 after belting a two-run homer.
Then Guerrero hit a solo bomb in the Game 5 rout. Now, Vlad is the -190 favorite and Shohei the +200 second choice. World Series MVP odds then drop off to +1600, for Yesavage and Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
"I don't think I need to even say this, but Shohei Ohtani has taken the most money for MVP," BetMGM senior trader Hal Egeland said.
Following Ohtani in World Series MVP odds money:
- Guerrero
- Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts (+15000)
- Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (+10000)
- Yamamoto
"Vlad is actually our worst result, with Ohtani our second-worst result," Egeland said.

World Series Odds
The MLB World Series takes place in late October and is often referred to as the Fall Classic. World Series futures odds for each season are made shortly after the conclusion of the previous season, and sometimes even sooner.
Since the MLB regular season is the longest of the four major sports, bookmakers don’t make one team a decisive favorite over another prior to the season. You’ll usually see three to four teams have World Series Odds of +1000 or less.
The majority of the MLB teams will have future odds ranging from +1000 to +7000 or so. Then you start to get into longer shots, with some teams at +20000 (200/1) or more.
How Do I Bet On The World Series?
It’s very simple to bet on the World Series, since the MLB futures odds market is always open for business. To figure out your Win Amount, a bettor would take the betting odds offered on a team and multiply by the amount wagered.
For example: The Yankees are +700 (7/1) to win the World Series. A $100 wager would profit $700, for a total payout of $800.
