Betting on the Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the NFL’s most successful franchises and, as a result, extremely popular among fans and NFL bettors.
Pittsburgh Steelers Franchise History
The Steelers originated as the Pittsburgh Pirates (not those Pittsburgh Pirates) in 1933, and were soon renamed the Steelers.
In the franchise’s youth, there wasn’t much to write home about. Then, in the 1970s, head coach Chuck Noll, quarterback Terry Bradshaw, and the Steel Curtain rattled off four Super Bowl victories.
After their dynastic run in the ‘70s, Pittsburgh struggled to find solid footing until Bill Cowher arrived to coach the team in the 1990s.
The Steelers made six straight playoff appearances at the start of the Cowher era, including a Super Bowl appearance in 1996. Sadly, the Steelers fell to the Cowboys, 27-17.
Less than a decade later, Pittsburgh drafted quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. In his second season, the Steelers returned to glory, as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks and captured their first championship since the ’79-’80 season.
Roethlisberger and the Steelers terrific defense, led by James Harrison and Troy Polamalu, delivered another title to the Steel City just three seasons later.
The Steelers’ six championships are tied for the most in NFL history by a single franchise.
Betting on the Steelers in Pennsylvania
The first Pennsylvania retail sportsbook opened in November 2018 after legal sports betting was given the go-ahead in 2017.
In addition to retail betting, the Keystone State boasts one of the richest online sports betting markets in the US. It consists of industry favorites like bet365, Fanatics Sportsbook, ESPN BET, BetRivers, and Caesars Sportsbook, as well as many more sportsbooks.
Pennsylvanians looking to get in on the action may start out by placing a spread bet (point spread betting) on their beloved Steelers that looks something like this:
- Steelers +1.5
- Ravens -1.5
In the above example, the Steelers are 1.5-point underdogs to their most fierce rival, the Baltimore Ravens. Steelers bettors need a 1-point loss or outright win from the Black-and-Gold.
If the Steelers lose by 2 or more, the bet would settle as a loss.
At VegasInsider, we have the latest Pittsburgh Steelers odds and a ton of expert information and picks to aid you on your betting journey! Pittsburgh Steelers Sportsbook Partnerships
In November 2020, the Steelers announced a partnership with BetMGM, one of the nation’s leading online sportsbooks.
As is typically the case in these partnerships, BetMGM received extensive physical and digital marketing perks from the Steelers, including a sponsorship of the Steelers Kickoff pregame show.
The company offered Steelers fans weekly prizes and season-long sweepstakes opportunities with varying rewards.
This means that the Pittsburgh Steelers are partnered with both BetMGM and DraftKings.
Steelers fans can use our BetMGM bonus code and DraftKings promo code for great bonuses today!
