Betting on the New York Rangers
As one of the original six teams that formed the NHL in 1917, the New York Rangers have become one of the most renowned franchises in US professional sports. This lofty status goes hand-in-hand with the popularity of legally betting on Rangers’ games.
New York Rangers Overview
The Rangers have won a total of four Stanley Cup Championships over the storied history of the franchise with three of those titles coming before 1940. The team’s fourth league title was won in 1994.
New York made a strong run for a fifth championship in 2014 with a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. Unfortunately for Rangers’ fans, their team was on the wrong side of a 4-1 series loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
Over all those years, some of the most famous Rangers on the honor roll include John Vanbiesbrouck, Rod Gilbert, Mike Richter, Brian Leetch and Henrik Lundqvist. Many more NHL players have earned their place among the team’s all-time greats.
The Rangers play in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division which makes up half of the Eastern Conference. Natural geographic rivalries have formed against the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils.
However, given the team’s extended tenure in the league, the Boston Bruins would have to rank high on that list. The Bruins are another one of the original six NHL teams with a storied history in this league.
Playing at Madison Square Garden or Boston’s TD Garden brings out the best in both of these teams. The NHL moneyline remains the most popular way to bet on a Rangers vs. Bruins game.
If New York happened to be listed as a +125 road underdog against Boston, a legal $100 wager on the Rangers to win would return $125. If Boston was set as a -145 home favorite, you would have to wager $145 to win $100.
🗽 Betting on the New York Rangers in New York 🗽
Prior to January of 2022, the only legal way to bet on Rangers’ games in New York was in retail sportsbooks. These books are housed in various casinos located in the upstate portion of New York.
Once legal online betting was launched in the Empire State, mobile sports betting became an overnight hit. New York took in $1.6 billion in legal sports wagers in the first three weeks. The Rangers became a big betting draw with in-state hockey fans.

New York Rangers Partnership With Sportsbooks
Playing all their home games at iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Rangers have formed partnerships with BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook.
Each of these US-based sports betting operators created landmark strategic alliances with the parent companies that own both the arena and the team. Also part of the mix is the NBA’s New York Knicks as another iconic professional sports franchise in the Big Apple.
