Betting on the San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks have kept bettors interested by staying competitive through the years.
San Jose Sharks Franchise History
The Sharks’ first season came back in 1991 in a year when they were the National Hockey League’s only expansion team.
San Jose made back-to-back Conference Semifinals appearances in its third and fourth seasons, but it didn’t make it past that point until a decade after its inception.
In 2004, the Sharks made their first of five Conference Finals appearances. Unfortunately, they were downed by the Calgary Flames and denied a chance at the Stanley Cup Final.
Nine playoff appearances and two more Conference Finals chances later, San Jose got over the proverbial hump and reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history in 2016.
Still, the Sharks couldn’t capture their first title as they fell to Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins, the same team that would win the following year.
🦈 Betting on the San Jose Sharks in California 🦈
As it stands, sports betting is illegal in California. There are, however, plenty of supporters who remain hopeful that the Golden State legalizes sports betting in some capacity.
For California, as is the case with many US states, the reality of legal sports betting seems much more likely than not. The biggest questions at this point are when and how.
With an abundance of professional and college sports teams, and cities that play host to so many major events, California would undoubtedly be a competitive, fruitful market.
If and when Californians are able to put their money where their mouth is on their favorite sports, they might see something like this, either on their phone or at a retail sportsbook:
- Sharks +1.5
- Kings -1.5
In this hypothetical matchup between in-state rivals, the Sharks are 1.5-goal underdogs. A bettor taking the underdog-Sharks needs them to win outright or lose by one goal.
If the Kings beat the Sharks by two or more goals, a bet on the Sharks +1.5 settles as a loss.
Although there is no sports betting in California just yet, there are some fun DFS apps and social sportsbooks to use. Here are some of our favorites for Sharks fans:
