NBA Playoffs Expert Free Picks for Wednesday, May 1
Our VI basketball betting experts have compiled their NBA picks for Wednesday, May 1 and they're focusing on the matchups below:
- Miami Heat at Boston Celtics (7:30 p.m. ET)
- Dallas Mavericks at Los Angeles Clippers (10:00 p.m. ET)
Heat vs Celtics Free Picks
Sans Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier, there is only so much firepower in this Miami offense.
In the only game of this series in which the Heat scored more than 94 points, they had to hit 23 triples; they've made only 18 across their last two games combined, converting at barely 28%.
Meanwhile the Boston big guns in Game 3 gave way to Derrick White, who out of nowhere would score 38 points and hit 8 of 15 triples.
That also suggests the Boston offense is not quite operating as it should and is barely scoring 100 pg across the last three in this series.
"Under" would also replicate the Game 5 "total" result from last June's Heat-Nuggets Finals that to this point has sequenced almost the same as this series.
Mavericks vs Clippers Free Picks
This line smells! It's fishy to begin with, then Dallas gets hammered with $ and it moves from -1 to the current number of -3.
If it's too good to be true, then it isn't! Back the Mavericks here off that disappointing Game 4 loss at home as they are 20-13 ATS this season when coming off a loss with a positive plus/minus.
As an away favorite the Mavs have been outstanding this season at 19-5 ATS with an average Margin of Victory of +7.4 PPG.
The LA Clippers have been home underdogs just 6 times this season and are 2-4 ATS in those games with an average differential of minus -9.5 PPG.
Kyrie Irving was amazing last game and carried the load as Luka Doncic had an off night. If both players are on their game tonight the Clippers will be in trouble in this critical Game 5.
