LATEST UPDATE: UCLA entered the NCAA Tournament with a superb 51-6 record and the No. 1 overall seed. As such, BetMGM had the Bruins as the +400 co-favorite in College World Series futures odds, on May 28, a day before NCAA Regionals begin.
But UCLA lost its regional opener to St. Mary's 3-2 Friday, then rebounded to barely beat Virginia Tech 6-5 Saturday, with three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. However, that set up a Sunday elimination game vs. St. Mary's.
And this time, the Gaels walked it off with a 6-5 victory in 10 innings, with the Bruins dropping two games in three days on their home field.
UCLA was the solo favorite for several weeks, after opening as the +1300 third choice, behind +700 favorite LSU and +1000 second choice Georgia. The Bruins then well outpaced those two teams and many others all season, but crumbled on the Tournament's opening weekend.
So Georgia Tech, which entered the NCAA Tourney at +400 along with UCLA, briefly took over Sunday as the +300 solo favorite in 2026 CWS futures odds.
The Yellow Jackets (50-11) rolled over Illinois-Chicago 22-5 and Oklahoma 9-3. However, in a Sunday night rematch with the Sooners, Georgia Tech tumbled 15-8.
That set up a winner advances/loser goes home Monday matchup between Georgia Tech and Oklahoma. And the Sooners prevailed again, 8-7 in 10 innings. So that's it for Georgia Tech, as well, after a semi-surprising season in which it opened +5000 to win the CWS.
"Georgia Tech didn't get a ton of action on the rundown from +5000. But that big price was enough for BetMGM to have some liability there," Cipollini said.
That liability is now cleared, with fellow ACC outfit North Carolina now the +375 favorite. Texas is right behind at +400, leading a slew of six SEC teams in the top eight of College World Series championship odds.
The Nos. 2-5 teams are from the SEC, as are Nos. 7-8:
- Texas +400
- Georgia +475
- Auburn +550
- Mississippi State +550
- Alabama +1700
- Ole Miss +2000
West Virginia is in the middle of that pack, at +1000. Another SEC outfit, Oklahoma, is also still alive, heading to the super regionals at +3000.
Tickets, Money, Liability
Before the NCAA regional round started, Texas led the ticket count in BetMGM's 2026 College World Series futures odds, followed by UCLA. The Bruins were No. 1 in money, just ahead of Texas and Georgia Tech.
But UCLA and Georgia Tech are now gone. And LSU, the defending national champ, was still No. 4 in tickets and No. 5 in money, despite not qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

"Mississippi State and North Carolina right now are our best outcomes. Texas is also a good outcome. " Cipollini said. "Kansas is by far our worst outcome. Kansas is probably that dark horse to win. Georgia is hovering around break-even now."
Florida was among the worst outcomes too, but the Gators bowed out in the regionals, getting blown out 10-2 by upstart Troy in a Monday night elimination game.
Kansas (45-16) could be a good under-the-radar play. After entering the NCAA Tournament at +5000 in CWS championship odds, the Jayhawks swept three games in the regional are now +1600.
Kansas, which opened a distant +15000, is No. 10 in ticket count and 12th in money in BetMGM's College World Series futures. But some of those tickets are at longer odds.
