Otto will beat AJ by unanimous decision, says Salita
Our team got to talk to Dmitry Salita, Otto Wallin and Claressa Shields' promoter. Salita talked to us about Wallin potentially facing Anthony Joshua and why the Swede has an advantage. He also talks about what makes Claressa Shields so great and why she can thrive in MMA.
You represent Swedish heavyweight boxer Otto Wallin. He suggested that he was optimistic about a fight against AJ. Do you share that optimism?
Both Otto and Joshua want to fight Tyson Fury. Otto gave Tyson the hardest fight of his career landing more punches against him then Klitchko and Wilder 1 put together. Joshua wants to warrant a fight with Tyson after losing to Usyk. I believe that Otto vs Joshua is the perfect fight for both. Eddie is attaching Joshua to lots of big names, we’ll see how serious Joshua is based on the opponent he selects next.
If Otto and AJ face off, how do you see the fight panning out?
It’s a very interesting fight. Joshua is obviously one of the elite guys in the division. Does he still have what is necessary to compete at an elite level? Otto wants to be heavyweight champ and showed he is world class in his fight vs Tyson and subsequent quality wins after that. I pick my guy Otto to win by UD.
Where is Otto better than AJ?
Otto is smart , focused, has a very good chin and is still very fresh. He did not have too many fights where he took punishment. His only loss is a controversial one to one of the greatest heavyweights of our generation.
Why do you think the "big names" have avoided fighting Otto for so long?
Otto is a difficult fight , that’s why we are working hard to get him in the mandatory position so he won’t be avoided.
Is AJ past his prime or is he still capable of being a legitimate contender?
That’s a question that the ring can only answer. Looks like he may be losing it but great fighters sometimes have 9 lives. Joshua was a Unified Heavyweight Champ, Olympic Gold Medalist. He is definitely a special fighter! Based on the last several performances looks like he may be losing a step in some things. I did see some technical improvement with Garcia which was made in short amount of time. Will see if he is still legitimate based on level and performance on his next opponent.
Will Otto dominate him in, both now and in the future?
I believe that Otto has a great chance to win. It is a very interesting match.
You also represent Claressa Shields. Do you expect her to dominate in MMA as she has done in boxing?
Claressa is a great boxer and a great athlete that wants to challenge herself. MMA presents that challenge and while it is a combat sport it is a different one.
Why is Claressa Shields so much better than everybody else?
She is a generational athlete who combines talent, believe in a higher power, believe in herself with incredible amount of hard work and dedication.
Is there anyone that can stop her, as you see it? Both in boxing and MMA
She is the GWOAT inside of the boxing ring!
Do you think it's possible to get Claressa into a 'proper' stadium fight, and how would she respond to that type of additional pressure?
Claressa is one of the greatest athletes of all time like Ali, Palle, Jackie Robinson , Michael Jordan and the like. The bigger the event the more she shines. Like a diamond who shows different dimensions of its depth and beauty.
Is there any fight on the table for Claressa at the moment, which you can tell us a little about?
I believe the Jonas fight makes the most sense at this point and something we want to pursue in an aggressive way.
