Creighton vs. Providence Picks, Predictions, Odds
We will see some separation in the race for the Big East title this week. There are four teams vying for the regular season conference championship, and they will face each other in midweek action on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The latter game will pit 12-3 Marquette against 11-3 Xavier, while the game on Tuesday night will see the 11-3 Creighton Bluejays take on the 10-4 Providence Friars. A victory for Creighton here would put the Bluejays in the driver's seat, as they host Marquette next week and don't play another team that is slated to make the NCAA Tournament in their remaining slate.
The Creighton Blue Jays will head to the coast to face the Providence Friars on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 7 p.m. ET on FS1. This game will be played at Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, Rhode Island.
Creighton Bluejays vs. Providence Friars Betting Prediction
The first meeting between these squads resulted in a Creighton victory. Trey Alexander, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Baylor Scheierman were the stars of the game, combining for 60 of Creighton's 73 points on the evening. Providence had a ton of second chances due to 15 offensive rebounds, but the Friars couldn't take advantage of those opportunities. The Bluejays are unlikely to have the same trouble on the glass in the rematch though, so they are the pick as a small road favorite.
Score Prediction: Creighton 75, Providence 70

Creighton Bluejays Betting Analysis
After winning just three of its first six Big East games, the Creighton Blue Jays have won eight straight games. They kicked off that winning streak against Providence on January 14, and they are coming off an impressive win over UConn on the weekend. Center Ryan Kalkbrenner is one of the most efficient players in the country, and he ranks in the top ten nationally in Offensive Rating. Kalkbrenner is averaging 15.0 PPG and 6.7 RPG, and he is making an incredible 74.4% of his two-point field goals. He has made his presence felt on defense too with 2.3 BPG.
Baylor Scheierman is very in the paint for a guard. He is averaging 13.2 PPG and leads the team with 8.3 RPG. Scheierman is making 44.7% of his field goals and 39.4% of his threes, and he has complemented Trey Alexander well in this regard. Alexander is averaging 13.4 PPG while sinking 45.5% of his field goals and 41.4% of his threes. Sophomores Arthur Kaluma and Ryan Nembhard are playing very well to round out the starting lineup, yet Creighton doesn't have much of a bench. The only other player averaging more than 10 MPG is TCU transfer Francisco Farabello, but he has missed the last couple games with an illness.
Although Creighton's starters play a ton of minutes, the Bluejays are very good on defense. They rank 12th nationally in defensive efficiency, and they have ranked No. 3 nationally in this department over the last eight games per Bart Torvik. The Blue Jays don't force turnovers, yet they are outstanding when it comes to keeping their opponents off the foul line and do a very good job cleaning up the glass.
Providence Friars Betting Analysis
We have yet to see Providence lose a game in Rhode Island this season. All seven of the Friars' losses have either been on the road or at neutral sites, and they are conversely 13-0 at home with big wins over Marquette and Connecticut.
Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins has rejuvenated his profile with a solid sophomore season in a new place. Hopkins is Providence's top scorer with 16.6 PPG, and he is tops on the team with 9.2 RPG to boot. He has been more efficient than he was as a freshman, and he's doing it as the go-to guy for a Top 25 team.
Ed Croswell is having a very good senior season. Croswell is averaging 12.7 PPG and 7.3 RPG, and he has been a superb rebounder on offense. He ranks in the top 10 nationally in offensive rebounding rate per Ken Pomeroy, and he is knocking down almost 62% of his field goals.
Aside from Hopkins, the only other efficient perimeter shooter on the Friars is Noah Locke. He is making 38.1% of his threes on almost 150 attempts. Jared Bynum leads Providence with 4.6 APG and ranks in the top 100 nationally in assist rate.
