Betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide has one of the most avid fanbases in all of Men’s Basketball. Calls of “Roll Tide!” can be heard throughout the state when the team plays. However, betting on the Alabama Crimson Tide may be a new area for these fans, so this article should help.
The Alabama Crimson Tide Men’s college basketball team represents the University of Alabama. This is a NCAA Division I men’s basketball team that plays in the Southeastern Conference.
In its conference, it is behind only Kentucky in SEC tournament titles, a long-time basketball stalwart. It is also third behind Kentucky and Arkansas in total wins. When it comes to SEC regular season conference titles, it comes in fourth behind LSU, Tennessee, and Kentucky once again.
The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team has spent a lot of its time in the shadow on the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s football team. However, over the past few decades, the team has managed to set itself apart and be known on its own.
In 2003, the team held a number 1 national ranking briefly under former coach Mark Gottfried. They competed for the NCAA Regional Tournament Championship the following year in 2004.
In the 1980s and early 1990s, the team was a notable regular conference basketball contender. The program has eight NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearances. In the program’s 2003–04 season, they defeated Stanford, who was #1-seeded, in the NCAA Tournament. The team also reached the Elite Eight round, however they lost to the eventual national champion, Connecticut.
A common bet to place on basketball is a spread bet. A spread bet is a bet on the total number of points scored in a game. An example is listed below:
- Alabama -4.5
- Kentucky +4.5
In the above situation, Alabama would be the favored team to win the game. However, the team would need to win by five or more points for the bettor to win the bet. Meanwhile, if the bettor bets on Kentucky, they would need to either outright win or not lose by five or more points for the bettor to win the bet.
