UPDATE 7:15 P.M. ET MONDAY: Fifteen minutes before kickoff, the Seminoles are 16-point favorites in The SuperBook's odds for Boston College vs Florida State. That's down significantly from the -21 opener May 26 and the -21.5 high point in June.

The main reason for the dip: Florida State's stunning Week 0 upset loss to Georgia Tech (see below). The 'Noles got as low as -15.5 a couple times over the past week, including earlier this evening, before nudging to -16.

Most concerning for The SuperBook, though, is the moneyline. Despite Florida State's -1000 price, big straight bets are coming in on it, and there are live moneyline parlays closing with the 'Noles.

"Boston College outright would be the biggest result of the weekend for us, if it came through," SuperBook risk supervisor Chase Michaelson said. "Last night's LSU-USC handle was higher, but more split. This is all Florida State, particularly on the moneyline.

"There's much more riding on this game than last night. A Boston College cover would be better than no cover, but Boston College moneyline would be huge."

The total opened at 51.5 in July, and that's where it is now. It bottomed out at 50 on Aug. 25, then today went to 50.5/51/51.5. Michaelson said there's not much of a decision on the total.

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. ET MONDAY: Four hours before kickoff, the Seminoles are -16.5 flat at BetMGM, after adjusting minutes ago from -16.5 (-105). Back in May, the 'Noles opened a healthy -21 in Boston College vs. Florida State odds, and they spent most of the summer at -21.5.

The line backed up to Florida State -20.5 on Aug. 22. Then, after the Seminoles' upset loss to Georgia Tech, BetMGM dropped Florida State to -17.5. The 'Noles bottomed out at -15.5 Tuesday and spent most of the past week at various iterations of -16.5.

Still, the bulk of activity is on the favorite.

"About 75-80% of the money on the spread is on Florida State. So we're rooting for Boston College here," BetMGM trader Christian Cipollini said.

The total opened at 51.5 on July 11 and spent the past week-plus at various iterations of 50.5. But in just the past few minutes, the number jumped a point to 51.5 again.

Cipollini said bettors are on the Over, no surprise, and the book expects to need the Under tonight.

UPDATE 9 P.M. ET THURSDAY: Florida State (0-1 SU and ATS) is already on the outside looking in for the 12-team College Football Playoff. Yes, the Seminoles are still ranked 10th, but that's only because the next AP poll doesn't drop until after Labor Day.

Florida State went to Dublin, Ireland, as 10.5-point favorites against Georgia Tech and exited with a 24-21 loss on a final-seconds field goal. It was a bitter result for a team that many thought earned a spot in last season's four-team CFP, but was left out.

Boston College finished 7-6 SU/5-8 ATS last season. The Eagles dropped their last three regular-season games SU and ATS. But BC still got a bid to the Fenway Bowl, where it beat SMU 23-14.

The Eagles have a new coach in Bill O'Brien. Former BC coach Jeff Hafley left to become defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers.

Months ago, on May 26, The SuperBook opened the Seminoles -21 in Boston College vs Florida State odds. A week ago, the 'Noles were still at -20. But after the loss to Georgia Tech, Florida State dropped straight to -17.

The line bottomed out at Seminoles -15.5 on Tuesday, and it's now -16.5.

"There's much more money and tickets on Boston College so far," SuperBook risk manager Casey Degnon said.

The moneyline opened at Florida State -1700/Boston College +1050 and is now into -800/+550. The total is down to 50 from a 51.5 opener, but Degnon said there's no decision at this point.
