UPDATE 2 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Marcus Freeman opens his second season as Fighting Irish coach in a neutral-site game across the pond in Dublin, Ireland. And Notre Dame has a new QB in Wake Forest transfer Sam Hartman.

The Irish are coming off a 9-4 SU season (7-6 ATS), capped by a 45-38 Gator Bowl win as 5-point favorites vs. South Carolina.

Navy went 4-8 SU and a more respectable 7-5 ATS in the 2022 season. The Midshipmen gave Notre Dame all it could handle in mid-November. After falling behind 35-13 by halftime, Navy's rally fell just short in a 35-32 loss as 17-point neutral-site underdogs.

BetMGM Nevada – meaning the sportsbook's retail and digital operations in Las Vegas – opened the Irish -19.5 back in June and went to -20.5 on Aug. 13.

"It's 2/1 tickets on Notre Dame and 2/1 money in favor of Navy," BetMGM Nevada's Scott Shelton said. "Right now, we're a small loser to Navy, but that could change with one bet. I'm guessing we'll end up needing Navy come game day."

The total is also up a point, to 50.5 in BetMGM's college football odds Week 0 market.

"Tickets are dead even, money slightly shaded toward the Under. But it's really good two-way," Shelton said.
