No. 5 LSU vs No. 8 Florida State Odds

• Opening moneyline: LSU -143/Florida State +115
• Opening total: Over/Under 57 points scored

UPDATE 7 P.M. ET MONDAY: Finally, the matchup everyone is waiting for in the college football odds Week 0 market. It's a game that could have immediate College Football Playoff odds ramifications – positive or negative – for both teams.

These two teams squared off in last year's season opener, too, at the Superdome. Florida State, laying 4 points, nabbed a 24-23 victory when LSU missed an extra point after a final-seconds touchdown.

The Seminoles went on to a 10-3 SU/8-5 season, capped by a 35-32 Cheez-It Bowl win as 10.5-point faves vs. Oklahoma. Meanwhile, the Tigers reached the SEC title game, getting bounced by Georgia 50-30 as 17-point pups.

LSU rebounded big in the Citrus Bowl, pounding Purdue 63-7 as 15-point chalk.

TwinSpires opened LSU -2.5 Aug. 22 and is up to -3, with 53% of tickets/62% of dollars on the favorite for this neutral-site game in Orlando.

"It's easily the game of the week. Early money is on LSU so far," Lucas said, before noting the total going up to 58. "Sharp play on Over 57."

The Over is taking a relatively modest 60% of early tickets, but that's translating into 82% of early money.
