2022 Arkansas Razorbacks Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

The Arkansas Razorbacks had an outstanding 2021 season, winning nine games despite living in the ultra-competitive SEC West. It was the first trip to a bowl since 2016, and head coach Sam Pittman helped the team cap off its season with an impressive 24-10 victory over Penn State in the Outback Bowl.

The good news for Arkansas football is that QB K.J. Jefferson is back to run the offense, which is a run-pass option (RPO) scheme. The team also was able to bring back offensive coordinator Kendal Briles. The bad news is that star WR Treylon Burks will now be playing his football on Sundays, while OT Myron Cunningham also will be playing in the NFL.

For defensive coordinator Barry Odom's unit, he'll be looking to find replacements for the likes of Montaric Brown, Grant Morgan, John Ridgeway and Tre Williams, all playing professionally. But the cupboard is anything but bare, as Taurean Carter, Eric Gregory and Isaiah Nichols look to be more than capable. And who isn't a fan of Bumper Pool, who looks to live up to his name as a linebacker, thumping and bumping the opposition in a leadership role for Odom's D.

The Razorbacks have the talent to be a bowl team again in 2022, but some key pieces, particularly on defense, need to take big steps forward and fill huge shoes. Jefferson must also be kept upright and healthy. Still, facing two playoff teams from 2021, and traveling to Auburn and BYU won't be easy tasks. The Hogs gave Alabama a good run in Tuscaloosa last season, but aren't in the same league this season. Still, the Hogs should have a winning home record, and the road record isn't terribly daunting. A 7-5 record is certainly within reach.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS ODDS TO WIN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP

+4000

The Razorbacks aren't unseating Alabama as the SEC West representative in the Championship Game anytime soon. Arkansas put a scare into Bama at Bryant-Denny, losing 42-35 in a wild game which it easily covered. But Burks had a monster game with eight grabs, 179 yards and two scores, and he isn't walking through that door this season. Arkansas will have its hands full with attaining bowl eligibility, and a championship just isn't in the cards in 2022.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

+10000

It's going to be a tall order for Arkansas to manage to win more games than it loses, and a decent bowl game would be quite the feat after a handful of losses in key positions. This won't be a losing team like we've seen in previous seasons, but it's not realistic to expect a national championship, or anything close to it. This isn't even worth a roll of the dice for a small-unit play. The leaves will likely still be green on the trees before this dream is squashed.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS 2022 HEISMAN CONTENDERS & ODDS

K.J. Jefferson (QB) +6600

Jadon Haselwood (WR) +50000

Jefferson was tremendous last season, completing 66.9% of his passes for 2,578 yards, 21 touchdowns and three interceptions while also rumbling for 554 yards and five scores across 12 games during the regular season. He tied a season best with 326 yards at Alabama, which was a nice duel with eventual Heisman winner Bryce Young. However, Jefferson lost his go-to receiver in Burks, and will have a new group to get used to. WR Jadon Haselwood could be the next big thing, but Jefferson isn't going to be able to do enough to wow the voters and even get an invite to New York for the festivities.
