2022 OLE MISS REBELS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW
The 2021-22 campaign ended with a disappointing 21-7 loss to Baylor in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss saw star QB Matt Corral limp off the field with a leg injury in the first quarter, ending up on crutches to wrap up his Rebels career. Still, it was a great debut season for head coach Lane Kiffin, coming over from Florida Atlantic University to steer the Ole Miss ship to 10 victories. That feat shouldn't be scoffed at, either, as it was the first time Mississippi won at least 10 games in a single season in school history.
Kiffin transformed the Rebels into an offensive machine, as the team had 27 or more points in 10 of the 12 regular season games, and 20 or more points in each of those 12 outings. In addition, the defense got better as the season went along.
Corral is now gone, but highly recruited former USC QB Jaxson Dart is expected to take the reins in The Grove, and there are high hopes that the Rebels will not skip a beat heading into 2022-23.
Offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby jumped ship for Oklahoma, and co-defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin left for SEC West rival Texas A&M, but Charles Weis Jr. re-joins Kiffin in Oxford as co-OC, pairing with passing game coordinator John David Baker. Meanwhile, Maurice Crum will partner with Chris Partridge as the co-defensive coordinators.
Dart doesn't necessarily have the starting job yet, as he has to beat out Luke Altmyer, but given Dart's experience, he is expected to be under center. Whomever wins the starting job will be without WRs Dontario Drummond, Jahcour Pearson and Braylon Sanders, as the trio has moved along. Jonathan Mingo will pair with incoming transfers Jaylon Robinson and Jordan Watkins to hopefully keep the machine rolling.
The defense was overshadowed by Corral and the offense, but Ole Miss was stout at times. The Rebels used the transfer portal to have major success, particularly at linebacker, and they will hope lightning strikes twice, bringing in LB Troy Brown, DE Jared Ivey and DT JJ Pegues, the latter being a former Auburn recruit.
As far as prognostication, the non-conference schedule should be a breeze before the month of October. Expect a 4-0 start, with few speed bumps, as presumably Dart settles in on offense. A tough game against Kentucky opens the conference schedule, but it is at home, and the first road game should be winnable against a poor Vandy side. It might not be until the leaves are turning colors in The Grove until this team is really tested. The back end of the schedule is a nightmare, however, and it's conceivable this team could go winless from Oct. 22 until the Egg Bowl. Still, this team should be able to cobble together at least eight victories in the regular season, but it isn't a guarantee, so go lightly.

OLE MISS REBELS ODDS TO WIN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP
+5000
There is a little upheaval among the coaching staff, and it remains to be seen how Dart folds in. Plus, Dart (or Altmyer) will have an entirely new receiving corps, and that's a tall order. This will be a middle of the road team in the ultra-competitive SEC West, so don't bother with playing around with Ole Miss to win the SEC Championship. It's extremely unlikely, but at least it does get favorite Bama at home.
OLE MISS REBELS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
+8000
It's unlikely that Ole Miss is going to the SEC Championship Game, therefore there is little to no chance it will be playing in the College Football Playoff. Don't bother with this prop.
OLE MISS REBELS 2022 HEISMAN CONTENDERS & ODDS
Jaxson Dart (QB) +3000
Zach Evans (RB) +15000
Dart stepped into the lineup for the injured Kedon Slovis at USC and he completed 61.9% of his passes for 1,353 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions across six games, while rushing for two more scores. He isn't necessarily a dual-threat option, and while he'll likely put up some nice numbers against overwhelmed non-conference foes, it's going to be tough sledding for most of the conference schedule. Working with The Lane Train will get Dart plenty of notoriety, but Corral didn't sniff the Heisman last season, and he was a much more superior signal caller than Dart.
