2022 San Diego State Aztecs Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

2022 SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

San Diego State is coming off one of their best seasons in program history, finishing with a 12-2 SU record. The Aztecs made it to the Mountain West Championship game, but loss with 20 players out due to COVID. Head Coach Brady Hoke will return for his fifth season and the Aztecs will move into their new Snapdragon stadium which should make for a better overall atmosphere for the team and fans.

The Aztecs lost quite a few players after the conclusion of last season but have managed to fill in roster holes via the transfer portal. Former Oregon Duck and Virginia Tech quarterback Braxton Burmeister (1,960 YDS, 14 TD, 4 INT) will come in to run the offense. Expect senior wide receiver Jesse Matthews (57 REC, 642 YDS, 9 TD) to have a big season and to be Burmeister's go –to target. The defense returns plenty of talent and should be great again after finishing last season 12th in the nation in overall yards allowed (324 YDS), 17th in points allowed per game (19.5), and the third best run defense in all of college football.

While I am not sure that the Aztecs see as much success as last season, I do think they cover their win total of 7.5 (-120). San Digeo State should start off the season 3-1 SU with games against Arizona, Idaho State, Utah, and Toledo. That forces the Aztecs to go 5-3 SU in conference play which is more than obtainable. This is the safest bet on the board for San Diego State, but there is also value in backing the Aztecs to win the Mountain West Championship (+500) if you are looking for a bit more juice.

SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS ODDS TO WIN MOUNTAIN WEST CHAMPIONSHIP

+500

This is not the best bet on the board for the Aztecs, but it sure does offer solid value. It will be no easy task to make it back to the Moutain West Championship game, especially with road games against Utah, Fresno State, and Boise State. However, San Diego State should find themselves right back in the mix to win the West division. A full unit may not be the best play; however, a smaller wager is not a bad idea here.

SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

+50000

A win over Utah week three would be a great look for the program’s future. Unfortunately, even with a win over Utah and an undefeated season I am not sure San Diego State has gained the reputation to play in the big game just yet. Take things one step at a time and wait for the Aztecs to win a conference championship before backing them to win it all.
