2022 TEXAS A&M AGGIES BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

Texas A&M picked up eight regular-season victories, including a 41-38 win over eventual national champion Alabama in front of the 12th Man in College Station. The Aggies were expected to play in the Gator Bowl against Wake Forest, but a COVID outbreak kept them from playing in the postseason.

The disappointment of no bowl game was washed away in the offseason with the much-publicized No. 1 recruiting class, much to the dismay of Alabama's Nick Saban, who seems to have disdain for the NIL system, and the fact teams like the Aggies are chipping away at the Tide's stranglehold on recruiting dominance.

QB Zach Calzada transferred to SEC West rival Auburn, but LSU transfer QB Max Johnson joins QB Haynes King in the quarterbacks room. Highly-touted recruit QB Connor Weigman might also get a look sooner rather than later. Either way, A&M is in pretty good shape heading into the fall.

The skill positions feature some nice talent, as speedster RB Devon Achane will be featured prominently, and WR Ainias Smith is also back.

On defense, A&M welcomes defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin into the fold, after a successful run at Michigan. Durkin has plenty of nice toys to play with, as DB Antonio Johnson and S Demani Richardson are studs, and the team has plenty of depth with veterans and recruits alike.

The schedule gradually ramps up, with a few cupcakes early on before Jimbo Fisher renews acquaintances with former rival Miami in mid-September. It's conceivable the Aggies will be 3-0 heading into SEC play. It's also a real possibility that the Aggies will be 5-0 before the showdown game at Alabama in early October. Can A&M pull off the miracle upset two seasons in a row, and hop in the driver's seat in the SEC West? That's the next step for the Aggies, as anything else is a bit of a letdown with such heightened expectations in College Station.

This is a team capable of at least a 10-win regular season, especially since most of the difficult games are inside the state of Texas. If the Aggies can upend Mississippi State on Oct. 1, they'll likely notch double-digit wins. Either way, nine wins for this team should be a shoe-in.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES ODDS TO WIN SEC CHAMPIONSHIP

Alabama isn't the only obstacle for this team to make it to the SEC Championship Game. The Aggies will face stiff competition from LSU and the Mississippi schools, although they should easily be better than Arkansas and Auburn. If the Aggies can defeat the Tide for a second consecutive season, they're still not a slam-dunk to make it to Atlanta, but it is worth a roll of the dice just in case. It would be a lot better if the Alabama game was in College Station again, though. Beating Saban and the Tide in Tuscaloosa is a tall order.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Aggies are far from complete, but a double-digit regular-season campaign should be in order. Should A&M beat Alabama on the road, it might be on track for bigger and better things. I am thinking there are at least two losses along the way for A&M, though, if not three. The road schedule is a little on the tough side, which will likely keep them out of the CFP.

Devon Achane (RB) +8000

Haynes King (QB) +10000

The quarterback situation is unsettled, and is an ongoing battle. Achane might actually have the best chances of this group, as he flirted with 1,000 rushing yards last season primarily as a backup. The sprinter has the tools to break one every time he touches the football. But even he isn't likely to post the kind of eye-popping numbers needed for an invite to New York. Avoid this group for now.
