2022 TROY TROJANS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

First year head coach Jon Sumrall will look to improve this program after the Trojans went 5-7 SU last season. Sumrall worked in the SEC as a linebackers coach the past few years but was a Troy assistant coach in the mid 2010’s so he is familiar with the program. It will be no easy task, but Sumrall will have plenty of talent and returning players to work with.  

The Trojans offense will have 10 players returning from last season, including veteran QB Gunnar Watson who has waited for this opportunity for four years. Leading receiver Tez Johnson (67 catches, 735 YDS, 4 TDs) will also return and should be Watson’s primary target. On the defensive side of the ball, first year defensive coordinator Sheil Wood from Army will have seven starters returning including Javon Salmon who had 11 sacks and 17 tackles for a loss last season. The talent is there for Troy to see success this season, it will simply come down to execution of the game plan.  

Troy’s toughest stretch of games will come in the first month of the season as three of their first four games come against Ole Miss, Appalachian State, and Marshall. If they can just win one of those games, it will be huge for their win total of over 6.5 (-110). Their schedule gets a bit easier from there but will still face Army and Louisiana later in the season. However, with a few adjustments from coach Sumrall this team should manage to go 7-6 SU and cover their win total. This is my best bet on the board for the Trojans as I do not see them winning the Sun Belt quite yet.

There is not enough juice here for me to recommend this bet. This was a five-win team last season and while they do have plenty of potential, I do not see them beating out Appalachian State, Georgia State, or Coastal Carolina to come out of the East division. If this happens to go up to +1500 or +2000 then I may reconsider, but not enough value to back the Trojans here

Troy winning the Sun Belt would be impressive, winning the national championship would be an act of God. Placing just one dollar on this bet would payout $3,001 if Troy wins the National Championship. I would assume that a scratch off ticket has better odds of hitting the jackpot than this, but if you love the Troy football program and believe in miracles then this is the bet for you.
