2022 UCLA BRUINS BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW

Head Coach Chip Kelly may have finally figured things out after an 8-4 SU 2021 season, the best in his four years with the Bruins. In today’s world of wanting everything at an instants notice, Kelly is proof that a little bit of patience pays off. In a Pac-12 conference loaded with talent, UCLA may come short of a Pac-12 Championship appearance but covering their win total of 8.5 is looking solid.

The Bruins offense was electric last season, averaging 226.2 passing yards, 215.2 rushing yards, and 36.7 points per game. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (2,409 YDS, 21 TD, 6 INT) returns and provides another threat on the ground as well. Wide receiver Jake Bobo (74 REC, 794 YDS, 1 TD) from Duke should provide Thompson-Robinson with a solid target. Michigan transfer Zach Charbonnet (202 ATT, 1,137 YDS, 13 TD) will be the go-to back this season and should have an immediate impact on the offense.

UCLA may not be quite as strong talent wise, but their schedule is a bit easier than last season. Utah, Oregon, and USC will be their toughest matchups, but should be able to take at least one of those games as they get Utah and USC at home. They cannot have any slip ups if they want to cover but I like their chances considering the improvement they have made under Kelly. There is a bit of value in taking the Bruins to win the Pac-12 Championship but the best bet on the board here is backing the over 8.5 (-115) total.

I think a small wager here is a smart play. If things go right the Bruins could have just one or two losses on the season and wind up as one of the top two in the conference. Oregon and USC are still my favorites in this conference, but with Chip Kelly running the show it could be the Bruins year.

Not a whole lot of hope for UCLA here. A loss or two is almost given in the Pac-12 Conference and that will likely knock out any chance they had. If you think big things are in store for the Bruins this is the bet for you, but I don’t see them having this kind of success this season.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson (QB) +8000

Zach Charbonnet (RB) +15000

Thompson-Robinson has potential to fill up the stat sheet with his ability to both throw and run. Last season he finished with 2,409 pass yards, 609 rush yards, and 30 total touchdowns. While he is definitely not a favorite, the big play making ability is there to have a great season. Derrick Henry from Alabama was the last running back to win the Heisman in 2015. Henry rushed for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns that year. Unless Charbonnet can double his stats from last season, there isn't much hope here. Charbonnet is a solid player but running backs need to put up some crazy numbers to win this award.
