2022 Virginia Tech Hokies Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions
2022 VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES BETTING ODDS, PREDICTIONS, PREVIEW
The Hokies had plenty of ups and downs during the 2021 season, but ultimately ended up 6-6 overall and 4-4 inside the conference during the regular season. The highs were an upset win in the opener against a highly-ranked North Carolina squad, a near-miss against Notre Dame, and a win on rival Virginia's field in the final as a touchdown underdog. The lows were a 3-point effort in a loss at Boston College, a home setback to lowly Syracuse and a 54-10 emasculation at the hands of Maryland in the bowl game.
Virginia Tech wasn't a dependable bet, either, unless you faded them, going 3-8 ATS in the final 11 games after opening 2-0 ATS. Early on it was all about the UNDER for the Hokies, too, but the defense broke down and then we saw more frequent OVER results down the stretch.
After a mediocre handful of seasons under Justin Fuente, he was relieved of his duties. Brent Pry, a former graduate assistant during the Frank Beamer and Bud Foster era, gets his first chance as a head coach at his alma mater.
The Hokies used the transfer portal to shore up the quarterback position, as veteran Grant Wells comes over from Marshall. He likely has a leg up over fellow transfer Jason Brown, who arrives from South Carolina. New offensive line coach Joe Rudolph looks to bring toughness to the guys up front, protecting whomever is under center while bringing some nastiness.
Wells or Brown will look to build rapport with incoming transfer WR Jadan Blue, who will mix into the fold with WRs Jaylen Jones, Da'Wain Lofton and Kaleb Smith. The pass game will need to be better, as the Hokies don't have a ton of depth in the backfield, although there are high hopes for RB Malachi Thomas.
Defensively, LBs Dax Hollifield and Alan Tisdale are the anchors, but there are some issues along the defensive line, and the secondary needs a lot of work. Like most teams, again, the portal came into play trying to shore up spots, but a lot of jelling is needed.
The non-conference schedule early on will get Virginia Tech off to a good start, and the team opens ACC play at home with a coin-flip game against Boston College. Things get a little uglier in October for the Hokies with three difficult trips inside the conference before lightening up in November. This has the looks of a 5- or 6-win season. The lean would be to the UNDER, especially at even-money, given the regime change and large amount of personnel changes in general.

VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES ODDS TO WIN ACC CHAMPIONSHIP
+5000
The Hokies are simply going to be struggling to win ball games and attain bowl eligibility. If Virginia Tech is able to grab six wins it would be a successful first campaign for coach Pry and his staff. Don't waste the money here, as tempting as it might be to try and multiply times 50.
VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES ODDS TO WIN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
+20000
It's been a while since Beamer Ball and Virginia Tech were challenging for major bowl games and national titles. The last 10-win season was in 2016, and the last major bowl was in 2011 when Beamer and the Hokies lost the Sugar Bowl. It lost three games that season, too, and Virginia Tech has lost at least two games in each of the past 21 seasons since an 11-1 run in 2000. The Hokies aren't going to be in the national title picture anytime soon, so pass.
