MIAMI HURRICANES vs. TEXAS A&M AGGIES BETTING PREDICTION

I got a little...story...for ya, Ags. One night, in the dirty little city of College Station, Texas, the Aggies came onto the field, and in walked a huge Appalachian State team. They were wearing some hanky-panky, good-for-nothing, foul-smelling Mountaineers uniforms. And those Mountaineers went on to EMBARRASS the No. 6 Aggies 17-14 on their home field, in front of their fans, despite all of the dopey cheers and unfunny quips they learned at the cult-like Midnight Yell deep in the heart of Texas the night before.

If you don't understand the above paragraph, just Google 'Texas A&M yell and YouTube', and watch the most cringeworthy thing you might ever see, like ever. No wonder Jimbo Fisher has to entice recruits with all that oil-money NIL lettuce.

The Hurricanes are this week's opponent, and you can live stream the Midnight Yell on Friday. I am curious what the A&M pep rally will look like after last week's debacle. If they had funny things to say about the Mountaineers, just imagine the corn about the Hurricanes.

Miami waffled Bethune Cookman of the FCS in the opener by a 70-13 score, covering a 49.5-point spread as the OVER hit. The offense wasn't nearly as effective against a poor Southern Miss team last week, but perhaps Miami was looking ahead to this bigger matchup. The U was sleepwalking through a 30-7 win, although it still did come close to covering the 27.5-point number.

Miami is eighth in the nation in points scored (50.0 PPG) and 10th in total yards per game (525.0), but that's a little skewed considering the first opponent was a lower-tier team from the FCS ranks.

Score Prediction: Texas A&M 23, Miami 19
Best Bet: UNDER 44.5 (-112)

MIAMI HURRICANES BETTING ANALYSIS

The Hurricanes picked up 24 first downs to 12 for Southern Miss last weekend, running for 177 yards with 268 passing yards. Miami struggled a bit in red-zone offense, but the kicking game with PK Andres Borregales was at least on point. In a close game that will come in handy. And the run defense for the U was stout, allowing 24 rushing yards on 23 attempts, and Miami was a plus-2 in the turnover department to pick up the victory.

Canes RBs Henry Parrish Jr. and Thaddius Franklin Jr. will both be leaned upon as the visitors try and follow a blueprint that Miami used so well. Run the ball, chew clock and keep the ball away from the home side. Parrish has 205 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry, while TFJ has 135 yards and three scores, averaging 6.4 yards per tote.

Miami plays its first road game, and that ended up well for bettors playing the Hurricanes in away outings. The Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in the past six road games, but the Canes are just 3-8 ATS in the past 11 non-conference games while going 2-5 ATS in the past seven games in the month of September.

For the totals, the UNDER is 20-8-2 in the past 30 games on the road, while going 5-2 ATS in the past seven games in the month of September and 5-1 in the past six games against the SEC.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES BETTING ANALYSIS

A&M opened the season with a 31-0 win over Sam Houston State of the FCS as 35.5-point favorite, while then losing in the well-documented 17-14 loss against App State last weekend as an 18-point favorite. The UNDER has cashed in each of the first two games for A&M, allowing just 134 passing yards against a Mountaineers team which had previously scored 61 points in a loss against North Carolina the week before.

Texas A&M was a minus-2 in the turnover department against App State, and it had the ball for just 18:31 of time possession to 41:29. That was because A&M really struggled to stop the run, allowing 181 yards on the ground. A&M couldn't pressure the quarterback, either, recording just one sack. And Texas A&M had just nine first downs to 22 for App State. A&M lost, and definitely earned that L.

A&M is 1-4 ATS in the past five games overall, while going 1-4 ATS in the past five games in the month of September. The good news is that it is 15-5 ATS in the past 20 non-conference games, while going 5-0 ATS in the past five against the ACC.

In terms of totals, the OVER is 4-1 in the past five against the ACC, but the UNDERE is 5-1 in the past six non-conference tilts, and 8-0 in the past eight games in the month of September.
