FLORIDA GATORS vs. TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING PREDICTION

The Gators suffered a 26-16 setback in The Swamp back in Week 2, losing the SEC opener. It can ill afford a second straight loss to open conference play if it hopes to keep its aspirations of a SEC East Division title alive, especially since defending national champ Georgia also resides in the division.

Florida rebounded last week with a win against South Florida, but just barely. The Gators registered the 31-28 win against the Bulls, as Florida came nowhere near covering a 23-point spread as the OVER connected. The Gators need to shore up its rush defense in a hurry, as the Bulls gouged them for 300 rushing yards and 23 first downs to just 17 first downs for UF. Florida won the turnover battle 3-2, but still must be cleaner with the ball as the quality of opponent ramps up.

Tennessee has been battle tested already this season, going to Pittsburgh and winning against a ranked team, 34-27 in overtime. So far the Vols have cashed in each game against the spread, and the OVER is 2-1. The OVER cashed in each of the teams non-conference games against MAC foes Akron last week, and Ball State in the opener.

Florida leads the all-time series 31-20, but the Gators have dominated lately, winning five straight. The Vols last won 38-28 in Knoxville on Sept. 24, 2016, and that was Tennessee's only win since the previous 17 meetings.

Score Prediction: Florida 31, Tennessee 27

FLORIDA GATORS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Gators opened their season with a win over a top-10 Utah team, and it was a spirited battle which went back and forth. Eventually, the Gators pulled off the comeback and won 29-26 as the OVER cashed. Perhaps that emotional game took a lot out of the Gators, as they haven't been the same since. Florida lost a rare game at home to Kentucky, then South Florida came up Interstate 75 from Tampa and gave QB Anthony Richardson and the Gators all they could handle.

Florida has really struggled against the number in recent seasons, going 5-16-1 ATS in the past 22 games overall, and it is a dismal 0-8 ATS across the past eight games at home. In addition, Florida has not stacked covers following straight-up or ATS wins, going 3-12-1 ATS in the past 16 after winning in the previous week, while going 0-7 ATS in the past seven following a non-cover. It is also 0-5 ATS in the past five conference games, too.

For totals, the Gators have enjoyed being on the road, and OVER bettors have liked them there, too. Florida has hit the OVER at a 18-7-1 clip across the past 26 games overall, while the UNDER is 6-2 in the past eight SEC games and 5-0 in the past five against winning teams.

TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Volunteers roughed up Akron last week by a 63-6 score, covering a 47.5-point number as the OVER hit. The Vols only other home game was Sept. 1, also against a MAC team Ball State. The Vols won 59-10 to cover a 37-point spread as the OVER hit. Facing Florida is a completely different animal, however.

Like Florida, Tennessee hasn't had a lot of success after victory, going 3-8 ATS in the past 11 games following a straight up win. The Vols are 1-4 ATS in the past five SEC games, and 4-11 ATS in the past 15 against winning teams, too.

On totals for the Vols, it's all about the OVER. The OVER is 8-1 in the past nine games overall for the Vols, while going 5-0 in the past five home games. The OVER is 4-0 in the past four SEC games for the Vols, too. The UNDER is also 4-1 in the past five meetings in this series.
