TEXAS A&M AGGIES vs. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE BETTING PREDICTION

The Aggies of Texas A&M were once a team ranked in the Top 10, but a funny little thing happened in College Station against Appalachian State. I won't make fun of the Midnight Yell yet again, but you know. You've seen the cornball video on YouTube or Twitter. OK, I guess I am making fun of it again.

A&M also took it in the shorts last week at Mississippi State by a 42-24 count, dropping to 3-2 overall, and just 2-3 ATS. It wasn't supposed to be this way. Head coach Jimbo Fisher had the No. 1 recruiting class, and it even had Alabama head coach Nick Saban talking about it. So what happened?

Well, A&M's offense stinks. It ranks 104th in the nation with 335.8 total yards per game, 101st in passing yards per game with 205.4, 97th in rushing yards with 130.4 per game and 109th in points scored with 21.8 PPG. That isn't going to beat Alabama A&M, Alabama State or South Alabama, let alone Alabama. OK, it probably beats the first three.

It's a shame for RB Devon Achane, because he could be a star. In fact, he really is a star already, going for 466 yards, 5.8 yards per carry and 3 TD. The quarterback play is uneven, at best, as neither QB Max Johnson nor QB Haynes King has done much of anything. In fact, their mediocre stats mirror each other, although Johnson has at least made fewer miscues.

For Alabama, the big question in this game isn't whether it can beat Texas A&M. That should be a resounding yes. But defending Heisman Trophy winner QB Bryce Young is nursing a shoulder injury, and he is questionable for this game. He was dinged in the Arkansas win last week, although dual-threat QB Jalen Millroe next manned up, going for 65 passing yards and a TD, while running for 91 yards and score. It would be a much closer game if Millroe starts and Young sits, but the result will still be the same.

Score Prediction: Alabama 38, Texas A&M 13
Best Bet: Alabama -23.5 (-115)
Best Bet: UNDER 52.5 (-115)

TEXAS A&M AGGIES BETTING ANALYSIS

The Aggies were hoping to challenge for a spot in the College Football Playoff this season, but App State derailed those hopes, and Mississippi State caused A&M to have to adjust its aspirations dramatically. A win over Alabama would still keep hope alive for a meaningful bowl, while a loss here would drop A&M to .500, and likely a lot of soul searching.

Texas A&M heads into this one with just one cover across the past six outings on the road, while also going 1-5 ATS in the past six on the road against teams with a winning home record, so this will, literally, be a tough road to hoe. The good news is that the Aggies are 6-2 ATS in the past eight against teams with a winning overall record. However, the Aggies just don't have the passing game to compete with a marquee program, at least not right now.

In terms of totals, A&M has cashed the UNDER in 12 of the past 17 games on the road, while going 19-8 in the past 27 on the road against teams with a winning overall home record. The UNDER is also 4-1 in the pat five games overall, although the OVER has hit in each of the past four in this series. However, QB Kellen Mond isn't walking through that door. QB Johnny Manziel certainly isn't walking through that door.

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE BETTING ANALYSIS

The Crimson Tide went on the road and answered a lot of questions at Arkansas last week. After narrowly escaping in Austin against the Texas Longhorns earlier this season, there were questions if the Tide were vulnerable when playing a top-tier team on the road. Young was knocked out against the Hogs, yet the Tide still rolled to a big victory in Fayetteville to answer those questions in resounding fashion.

Alabama returns home where it is 17-5 ATS in the past 22 games at BDS, while going 5-2 ATS in the past seven against teams with a winning overall record. Bama is 4-1 ATS in the past five games overall, too, while cashing in four straight on natural grass.

For totals, the lean to the UNDER for the Tide, too. The UNDER has hit in five of the past seven games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five at home, and 5-1 in the past six against teams with an overall winning record.
