VIRGINIA CAVALIERS vs. GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS BETTING PREDICTION

It's been a difficult season so far for the Cavaliers of Virginia, as it currently sits in the basement of the Coastal Division with a 2-4 SU record, including the only winless mark in the ACC at 0-3. The Hoos have managed just 107 points through six games, which puts them 13th out of 14 teams in the ACC in terms of scoring. The last place team? It's Georgia Tech, with just 104 points across six outings.

While Georgia Tech has had its struggles scoring against top-notch Power 5 teams, in particular, falling 41-10 against Clemson on Labor Day weekend, and 42-0 against Ole Miss on Sept. 17, the Ramblin' Wreck has picked up the pace lately. The Jackets scored a 26-21 stunning win over defending ACC champ Pitt in their place on Oct. 1, cashing outright as a 21.5-point underdog. Ga. Tech kept it rolling with a 23-20 overtime win over improved Duke on Oct. 8, and has now had a week and a half to game plan for this game, trying to get above .500 for the first time this season.

This all-time series is tied 21-21-1, with UVA picking up wins in each of the past two, both in Charlottesville. The last meeting in Atlanta resulted in a 30-27 win by the Jackets on Nov. 17, 2018. Georgia Tech holds a slight 7-5 lead in the series dating back to Oct. 24, 2009, too, and it hasn't lost at home against UVA since Oct. 25, 2008.

Georgia Tech needs just one more win this season to hit the OVER (3.5 wins) for the season, and it will get it in this game. And Virginia (7 wins) will take a fifth loss, and be all but assured of an UNDER result for their win total for the season.

Score Prediction: Georgia Tech 25, Virginia 18

VIRGINIA CAVALIERS BETTING ANALYSIS

It's been a difficult season for the Cavaliers of UVA, and it was hit hard by the transfer portal, too. Losing RB Wayne Taulapapa to Washington via the portal hit more than imagined, as he gave this team a nice, balanced attack. RB Perris Jones has been serviceable, but there just isn't a lot of depth. And QB Brennan Armstrong, who has been very reliable in the past, has been mistake-prone. He has completed just 55.0% of his passes while throwing for 1,363 yards, 5 TD and 7 INT, and he has 195 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Armstrong might not be 100 percent healthy, either.

Virginia opened with a 34-17 win over FCS Richmond before getting buried at Illinois, which suddenly doesn't look like that bad of a loss. This team also scratched out a win over a decent Old Dominion team, while losing by just two at Syracuse on Sept. 23, 22-20. The Orange head into this week's showdown at Clemson unbeaten, so that's an impressive near-miss for UVA, too. However, the past two losses at Duke and home to Louisville are by 17 or more points, signaling this team might be white-flag waving as the leaves start to change colors.

UVA has failed to cover in six of the past seven games overall, while going 0-5 ATS in the past five on a grass surface. For totals, the UNDER is 5-1-1 in the past seven games overall for the Hoos, while going 5-2-1 in the past eight following a straight-up loss and 7-2 in the past nine after a non-cover.

GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Yellow Jackets are slowly, but surely, clawing their way back to respectability after years in the doldrums. It's nice to see, frankly, as this is the school of John Heisman. This is the team which scored the most points in a single college football game ever, posting a 222-0 win over Cumberland College on Oct. 7, 1916, when Ga. Tech were named the Engineers. This is a historic program, and it's good when they're good.

Georgia Tech has covered three in a row, but it is 0-1 ATS as a favorite this season. This is the first time Georgia Tech has been favored against an FBS opponent since Oct. 30 of last season, losing 26-17 against Virginia Tech. In fact, Georgia Tech is 3-4 SU/0-7 ATS as a favorite since Nov. 10, 2018, a 27-21 win over Miami in Atlanta as a 1.5-point favorite.

The Yellow Jackets are 7-19 ATS in the past 26 games at home, while going 4-10 ATS in the past 14 games overall. The Jackets are also 3-7 ATS in the past 10 Thursday appearances.

For totals, the UNDER is 7-1 in the past eight games overall for Georgia Tech, while going 5-0 in the past five games at home.

In this series, Georgia Tech has covered in four of the past five at home against Virginia, while the home team is 15-5-1 ATS in the past 21 meetings. The OVER is 4-0 in the past four in the series, but the UNDER is 7-3 in the previous 10 battles in the ATL.
