Liberty joined the Big South Conference in 2002 and resided there until joining the FBS as an independent in 2018. The Flames were extremely dominant during their run in the Big South. This season, Liberty will get an SEC challenge in Week 10 when they travel to face Freeze’s former program Arkansas.
