UPDATE 5 P.M. ET SATURDAY: BetMGM's Tennessee vs N.C. State odds went on the board in late May at Vols -5.5. In the wake of Week 1, the Vols advanced to -7.5 Sunday. And on Thursday, Tennessee stretched to -8.5/-9.5/10.

On Friday, the Vols receded to -9.5 (-115), and that's where the line sits now.

"We need N.C. State +9.5. And N.C. State outright kills a heap of parlays," BetMGM trading manager Seamus Magee said.

The total opened at 58.5, peaked at 61.5 Thursday and is now 60. Magee said there's nothing significant to the total.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Tennessee (1-0 SU and ATS) opened against FCS foe Chattanooga and, as expected, had no trouble whatsoever. The Vols rolled to a 69-3 victory, easily covering as 39.5-point home favorites.

North Carolina State (1-0 SU/0-1 ATS) also played an FCS team, but found the going much tougher against Western Carolina. In fact, the Wolfpack trailed at multiple junctures: 7-0 and 14-7 in the first quarter, and 21-17 late in the third quarter.

But N.C. State put up three fourth-quarter touchdowns to win 38-21 as 32-point home chalk.

At TwinSpires Sportsbook, the Vols haven't moved off -7.5 in Tennessee vs NC State odds. But that -7.5 is modestly juiced to -115. The Vols are taking 77% of early spread bets/82% of early spread dollars.

"Lopsided tickets and handle on the visitors. And Tennessee moneyline is in every parlay so far. N.C. State outright would make our day," TwinSpires director of retail sports Zachary Lucas said.

The total is on the move at TwinSpires, going from 59 to 60.5. The Over is netting 75% of tickets/79% of money.

"As they usually do, the public expects a high-scoring affair. We'll need the Under," Lucas said.
