Rocket League

Rocket League is one of the newest Esports on the scene, but it has quickly risen in popularity. Unlike many other Esports that can trace their roots back to the 20th Century, Rocket League was founded in July 2015. The game’s ease of play has led to it being ported across multiple platforms, so you can play on your computer against your friend who is playing on a Nintendo Switch with no issues.
WHAT IS ROCKET LEAGUE?
If you mix NASCAR with soccer and add a touch of futurism, you have a good approximation of Rocket League. One of this game’s main appeals is just how easy it is to play. There are very few buttons and actions in this game compared to most other Esports, so like soccer and auto racing, it is straightforward.
In Rocket League, two teams use their cars to try to maneuver an oversized soccer ball into the other team’s goal. You need to have a decent understanding of the game’s physics in order to understand how the ball bounces off your car or other objects, and a little bit of creativity can go a long way. This game is very minimalistic in its dynamics, but pro players must learn how to use their jumps and turbos at just the right times.
UNDERSTANDING ROCKET LEAGUE ODDS
The Rocket League betting odds aren’t as robust as what you see in other Esports.
TYPES OF ROCKET LEAGUE BETS
- Moneyline
- Spread
- Total
There are only a handful of ways to bet on Rocket League games, but there are moneyline bets, spread bets, and total bets. All these concepts are familiar to even a novice bettor, and they transition over to Rocket League smoothly.
With a moneyline bet, you are simply betting on which team wins the match. A spread bet means that a team needs to win by a certain number of goals to cover the spread, and a total bet is a wager on the total number of goals scored in that match.
HOW TO BET ON ROCKET LEAGUE
You won’t find as many tournaments for Rocket League as you will for other Esports. That’s largely due to the game’s status as a newer Esport, yet that is slowly changing. More minor tournaments are popping up each year, giving bettors more chances to bet on the Rocket League.
WHERE DO I BET ON ROCKET LEAGUE?
Esports are so prevalent these days that you can bet on them at any online sportsbook. Some books will have their own Esports section that is a standalone site, while others will have it in the main sportsbook with the more usual offerings. You will find CS:GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty, and other Esports options there as well.
ROCKET LEAGUE BETTING AND SCHEDULE
Since 2016, there have been two major Rocket League tournaments each year. These tournaments last three months, and they bring together multiple teams from North America and Europe to vie for cash prizes and bragging rights. At least one of these tournaments is always held in North America, but the other tournament has been held across the pond in Europe in three of those four years.
The most recent tournament was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the Rocket League is trying something new. They will be holding regional series in Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America, and they are also holding collegiate competitions. There will be eight teams in each tournament, and the prize pool for the events in North America and Europe will be $125,000.
