The Venue: TPC San Antonio (The Oaks Course)

The tournament returns to TPC San Antonio, specifically the Oaks Course. Designed by Greg Norman with consultation from Sergio Garcia, the course is known for its narrow, tree-lined fairways and deep bunkers.

Unlike many modern Tour stops that favor pure distance, the Oaks Course demands strategy and creative shot-making. The cavernous bunkers and native Texas brush flanking the fairways provide a stern test, especially when the notorious San Antonio winds begin to howl across the 7,438-yard, par-72 layout.

The Field and Players to Watch

The 132-player field features a compelling mix of stars fine-tuning their games for the Masters and "bubble" players fighting for their season.

• The Defending Champion: Brian Harman returns to San Antonio looking to recapture the magic that saw him navigate the wind-swept greens for a victory in 2025.
• The Favorites: Ludvig Åberg (+1600), Tommy Fleetwood (+1600), and Russell Henley (+1600) open the week as co-favorites. All three have shown elite "tee-to-green" form recently.
• Texas Legends: Home-state hero Jordan Spieth is always a massive draw here. Having won this event in 2021, he remains a perennial threat on these specific greens.
• The International Stars: Major champions Hideki Matsuyama and Collin Morikawa are in the field, looking to carry momentum into next week’s Major.
• The "Last Chance" Contenders: Keep an eye on players like Rickie Fowler and Christiaan Bezuidenhout. For those not already exempt into the Masters, a win this Sunday is the only way to book a flight to Georgia.

What is at Stake

While the prestige of the Valero Texas Open (one of the oldest events on Tour) is significant, the rewards are both financial and logistical:
