Most of the elite golfers on the PGA Tour took last week off to rest before heading to Europe for the last major of the season. Before The Open Championship at historic St. Andrews next week, golfers will have a tune up at the Genesis Scottish Open. The site of the Scottish Open (Renaissance Club) is just 20 miles away from St. Andrews as the crow flies, so golfers who perform well this week will definitely fancy their chances next week at the 150^th Open Championship.

The Scottish Open has been held at 11 different golf courses around Scotland. This will be the fourth time that Renaissance Club has hosted the event, tying it with Castle Stuart for the third-most used venue in the history of this tournament. Renaissance Club is in North Berwick, Scotland on the south coast of the Firth of Forth.

JUSTIN THOMAS TO WIN (+1200)

It’s been a solid year for Justin Thomas. He is currently ranked 4^th in the FedEx Cup standings, and he won the PGA Championship in May. Thomas has three T5 finishes in his last five events coming into the Scottish Open, and he already has nine T10 finishes this season.

Thomas finished T8 here last year, and he started and closed his week with a 65. His other previous appearance at Renaissance Club was in 2019, and he finished T9 after firing a 65 on Sunday. Although detractors will point to his failure to ever finish T10 at The Open Championship, he has shown that he can tame this course. That’s why Thomas has the third-lowest odds on the board behind Scottie Scheffler

XANDER SCHAUFFELE TOP 10 (+500)

This might be the best value on the board as Xander Schauffele is 18-1 to win the Scottish Open but a whopping +500 to finish in the top ten this weekend at FanDuel. Schauffele has won two events in the past two months, claiming the Zurich Classic and the Travelers Championship, and he has finished T18 in six straight tournaments.

Schauffele took part in the Scottish Open for the first time last year. He earned a T10 finish as he finished with a 67 or better in three of his four rounds. Schauffele ranks 12^th in GIR and 2^nd in sand saves, so his game is well-equipped for Renaissance.

VICTOR PEREZ TOP 20 (+700)

Although Victor Perez has yet to make a name for himself on the PGA Tour, he is established on the European Tour. The 6’5 Frenchman has made the cut in all three of his trips to North Berwick, and he earned a T14 finish in 2020. Perez has finished 10 of his 12 rounds at 69 or better in his three appearances at the Scottish Open here, so he is definitely worth a flyer at this price. He ranks 23^rd in GIR, and he is hot with a win at the Dutch Open in late May and a T3 finish at the Porsche European Open last month.
