Oneil Cruz  to Hit a Home Run (+400 | BetMGM) vs. (SP: Jonathan Cannon)

Coming off an entertaining home run derby performance, where he hit 21 home runs in round 1, we will target the Pirates' young stud, Oneil Cruz.

Cruz is coming off an up-and-down first half of the season, where he only hit .212 and accumulated 116 strikeouts in just 85 games. Despite this, the power numbers have generally been there, especially against righties.

15 of his 16 homers have come against that same side, where he has a 124 wRC+ and is slugging .480.

On the mound is Jonathan Cannon, who is relinquishing 1.63 HR/9 against left-handers. Although Cannon’s strikeout rate goes up against lefties, batters are slugging nearly 100 points higher than their right-handed counterparts.

The +400 number at BetMGM Sportsbook is too good to pass up here.

Rafael Devers to Hit a Home Run (+375 | bet365) vs. (SP: Chris Bassitt)

At the Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays will host the San Francisco Giants. Both of these teams have been some of the more pleasant surprises of the first half of the MLB season.

For this showdown, we’ll turn to the newest member of the Giants: Rafael Devers. Although Devers hasn’t necessarily lived up to expectations since he was acquired, there’s still plenty of reason to be optimistic. Against righties, Devers is slugging .463 with a 137 wRC+, where 12 of his 17 dingers have come against the same side.

He’ll take on Chris Bassitt, who is allowing a .485 SLG against lefties (nearly 150 points higher than righties). In addition, Bassitt is averaging less than 9 Ks per 9. For a high strikeout guy like Devers, this should bode well for him as Bassitt is in the bottom ⅓ of the league in whiff rate.

Moreover, the Rogers Centre has been ranked as the third-best park in terms of home run production, according to Baseball Savant.

Spencer Torkelson to Hit a Home Run (+375 | bet365) vs. (SP: Patrick Corbin)

For our last pick, we’ll go to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, as the Rangers will take on the red-hot Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers sent a league-high 6 All-Stars to Atlanta. Although one of them was not Spencer Torkelson, the young first baseman has shown plenty of signs of life, generating 21 home runs in the first half of the season.

Torkelson will try to take advantage of a really advantageous matchup against southpaw Patrick Corbin. Against lefties, Torkelson has an electric 1.003 OPS with a 163 wRC+. He’ll have plenty of protection with all-stars Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene expected to be right in front of him in the order, with Dillon Dingler right behind.

On the bump will be Patrick Corbin, who has had a mild resurrection of sorts on Texas. However, he is still struggling to keep the long balls to a minimum as he’s given up a home run in four of his last five starts. Moreover, he is only striking out 17% of right-handed batters.
