Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets Betting Analysis
The Texas Rangers and the New York Mets play the first of a three-game series on Friday, July 1, 2022 at the Citi Field.
The Rangers are currently in second place in the American League West standings with a 36-38 record. Away from Globe Life Field, Texas owns a 19-18 mark. Texas sits 11.5 games behind the Houston Astros for the top spot in the division. The Mets are in first place in the National League East with a record of 47-29, highlighted by a sturdy 24-12 record at home.
Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets Betting Prediction
The Texas Rangers are currently second in the AL West standings, 11 and a half games behind the Houston Astros for first place. The Rangers most recently went 2-1 SU in a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals and have gone 5-5 SU over their last 10 games. The Rangers had their bats working against the Royals with 19 runs scored throughout the series. This is well above their season average of 4.39 runs per game (15th). The right fielder Adolis Garcia has played a significant role in the offense’s success with a batting average of .259 (74-286), 15 home runs, and 49 RBIs. The bullpen was also dialed in against Kansas City, allowing just nine runs throughout the series. This is right on par with their season ERA of 3.91 (16th).
The New York Mets enter this matchup first in the NL East standings with a three and a half game lead over the second place Atlanta Braves. The Mets went 0-2 SU in their most recent series with the Houston Astros and have lost six of their last 10 games. New York’s offense scored just one run in the two games against the Astros. This was extremely uncharacteristic of a Mets team that is averaging 4.81 runs per game (5th) this season. First baseman Pete Alonso has been huge for New York with a batting average of .280 (77-275), 22 home runs, and 69 RBIs. The bullpen struggled in game one against Houston, allowing nine runs, but managed to bounce back and hold the Astros to just two runs in game two.
This will be the first meeting between these teams on the season. I like New York to take game-one of this series. The Mets are currently on their longest losing streak of the season (three games) and I do not expect them to make that four in a row against the Rangers. New York’s offense should get back on track going up against right-handed pitcher Glenn Otto who is rocking an ERA of 5.31 this season. Not much value in the Mets moneyline so will be backing the Mets runline here.
Score Prediction: Mets 5, Rangers 3
Best Bet: Mets -1.5

Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets – Current Form
The Rangers lost 2-1 against the Nationals last Sunday, but then went 1-2 to the Royals in their next game on Wednesday. The first game with the Kansas City Royals was Texas’s worst in the last six. They produced a total of one run.
Scoring 10 runs against the Kansas City Royals on Monday’s first game in the series was their best performance in their last six games. The Mets won against the Marlins last Sunday 2-1, only to lose to the Astros last Wednesday. Against the Houston Astros, New York couldn’t manage a single run in the second game of the series on Wednesday. The Mets were the weakest on Wednesday, not managing any runs in game two of a two-contest series against the Astros.
The Mets were the weakest on Tuesday, when the Houston Astros scored nine runs in game two of a two-contest series against the Astros.
Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets – Pitching Matchup
Texas: Glenn Otto (4-3, 5.32 ERA)
Texas’s right-hander Glenn Otto takes the mound for his ninth start of the season. Otto looks to improve on a 4-3 record and 5.32 ERA in 42.1 innings, while striking out 34, walking 26 batters, and posting a 1.51 WHIP. The 26-year-old right-hander couldn’t lift the Rangers to a home win over the Washington Nationals on June 26, 2022. In his losing start, Otto tossed two innings in the 4-6 defeat by the Washington Nationals, while giving up six runs on six hits with one strikeout and three walks. Otto owns a 2-1 road record this season in four starts away from Globe Life Field. In those away outings, he has posted a 2.57 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, nine walks, and 16 strikeouts in 21 innings of work.
New York: Chris Bassitt (6-5, 4.01 ERA)
The Mets’ right-hander Chris Bassitt owns a 6-5 record and 4.01 ERA in his 15th start of the season. Bassitt also posted a 1.15 WHIP, while striking out 95 and walking 26 batters in 89.2 innings this season. Bassitt added another win to his record in his most recent start against the Miami Marlins, as New York’s right-hander surrendered three runs on six hits, and five strikeouts during the Mets’ 3-5 road loss on June 25, 2022. Pitching at home this season, Bassitt is 2-3 with a 3.16 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, 14 walks and 54 strikeouts over 51.1 innings in eight starts.
Texas Rangers vs. New York Mets – Series History
The Rangers and the Mets have been pretty much toe to toe. Both teams have won two out of four games in the 2017 season, and have continued to split the series.
