Lourdes Gurriel (TOR) Over 0.5 Hits / Pete Alonso (NYM) Over 0.5 Hits (-117)

After a nice rest day yesterday, Gurriel should be back in the lineup and ready to rake. Gurriel is another guy who’s having a good season but has really turned up the heat recently. He’s currently sitting at 5th in the MLB in batting average (.312) and is now hitting leadoff with Springer out of the lineup. Gurriel ended July with a .382 batting average, and has picked off exactly where he left off hitting .346 in August, now he gets a great matchup against Kyle Bradish. Bradish currently allows a .361 batting average to right handed hitters and Gurriel is hitting .316/.314/.333 against his top 3 pitches. He has 1+ hit in 18 of his last 21 games and I expect that streak to continue tonight.

While Pete Alonso isn't always the highest average hitter, he’s been playing very well in the second half of the season. Since the All-Star break, he holds a .365 batting average with 11 XBH’s in 74 PA’s, ranking second in FanGraphs offensive rating. Alonso is in a great matchup against Mike Minor today, who is currently allowing a .302 Road OBA and a .317 OBA vs RHH. Minor is marching into a hot Mets team, with his 1-8 record and .619 ERA, I’m expecting the Mets slugger to take care of business today. Minor is mainly throwing fastball/changeup to right handed hitters, which Alonso is currently batting .279/.333 against. Smash spot for the Polar Bear right here, also liking his over 1.5 total bases (which is surprisingly +100 on Caesers).
