LOS ANGELES DODGERS vs. SAN DIEGO PADRES BETTING PREDICTION

The Dodgers dropped game-two on Wednesday by a final score of 5-3 and will head to San Diego with the series tied at 1-1. Los Angeles had 11 hits and three runs on the day, but struggled to capitalize, going 0-8 with runners in scoring position. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw did not have his best outing, going 5.0 innings while giving up six hits and three runs. The other four pitchers gave up a combined three hits and two runs. The right-hander Tony Gonsolin (16-1, 2.14 ERA) is expected to start game-three.

The Padres will host their first playoff game in 16 years on Friday night after defeating the Dodgers 5-3 In game-two. San Diego’s offense finished with nine hits, five runs, and had potential for more as they were just 2-11 with runners in scoring position. Starting pitcher Yu Darvish had a mediocre outing, giving up to seven hits and three runs. The rest of the bullpen used came up clutch, holding the Dodgers to four hits and zero runs in 4.0 innings of work. Southpaw pitcher Blake Snell (8-10, 3.38 ERA) is scheduled to start Friday.

I think it’s worth playing the Padres Moneyline in game-three. Gonsolin has been solid for the Dodgers this season but has pitched just two innings since August 23rd which is concerning. Meanwhile, San Diego’s offense has been hot and will be hosting their first home game in 16 years. Expect Petco Park to be rocking and back the Padres Moneyline here.

Score Prediction: Padres 5, Dodgers 4

LOS ANGELES DODGERS BETTING ANALYSIS

After dropping game-two the Dodgers are 112-52 SU and 98-66 ATS this season. The total has gone under in eight of Los Angeles’s 11 games. The Dodgers are 13-8 SU over their last 21 games and 4-2 SU in their last six games when playing on the road against San Diego. Los Angeles is 2-5 SU in their last seven games played in October.

The Dodgers offense had solid production with 11 hits in game-two but could not find a way to finish the job. Throughout the regular season Los Angeles had a batting average of .257 (4th), on base percentage of .333 (1st), slugging percentage of .442 (2nd) and scored 847 runs (1st). The third baseman Max Muncy has had a hot start to the post season, going 33-7 with one RBI. First baseman Freddie Freeman had a solid game two as well, going 2-4 with one home run and one RBI.

Los Angeles bullpen was the best in the league during the regular season but have given up eight runs in their first two post season games. This is not common for a team with an ERA of 2.80 (1st). Right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin is scheduled to start Friday. Gonsoliin went 16-1 SU with an ERA of 2.14 and gave up 79 hits, 31 earned runs, and struck out 119 batters in 130.1 innings of work. Gonsolin has seen just 2.0 innings of action since August 23rd so I wouldn’t expect him to go very long Friday. In his two outing against the Padres this season, Gonsolin gave up a combined seven hits and one run in 12.2 innings.

SAN DIEGO PADRES BETTING ANALYSIS

The Padres are 92-75 SU and 75-92 ATS after Wednesday’s win. The total has gone over in six of the Padres last seven games. Following this trend, the total has gone over in five of their last six games against a National League opponent. The Padres are 2-5 SU in their last seven games against the Dodgers and 5-2 SU in their last seven games.

San Diego’s bats continue to thrive as they have now put up 24 runs in five playoff games. Not bad for a team that had a batting average of .241 (16th), on base percentage of .318 (8th), slugging percentage of .382 (22nd) and scored 705 runs (13th during the regular season. The third baseman Manny Machado came up big for the Padres with a home run and has been solid throughout the postseason, going 6-22 at the plate with two home runs and five RBIs.

The Padres bullpen managed to leave the Dodgers stranded as they held them to 0-8 with runners in scoring position. Throughout the regular season San Diego held opponents to a batting average of .232 (9th), had a WHIP of 1.20 (9th), and team ERA of 3.81 (11th). The left hander Blake Snell is scheduled to start Friday. Snell went 8-10 SU with an ERA of 3.38 this season and gave up 103 hits, 48 earned runs, and struck out 171 batters in 128.0 innings. In his first outing against the Dodgers this season, Snell went 5.0 innings while giving up four hits and one run. His second outing did not go as smoothly, giving up seven hits and five runs in 4.0 innings.
