As the NBA season wrapped up, our team at VegasInsider has analyzed fine data over the course of the 2023-2024 season to unveil which teams, players and positions have accrued the most fines. 

To do this, we scraped NBA fine data from Spotrac, as well as analyzing fine data from the last ten years.

Ja Morant Leads the NBA in Fines

The spotlight shines on Ja Morant as the most fined player of the 2023/24 NBA season. Point Guards Paid Out $7,900,990 This Season in Fines

NBA Point guards topped the list as the most fined position in the 2023/24 season. Even though Ja Morant was the vast majority of these fines, this trend may suggest that point guards are one of the most fined positions in all of sports.

The Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers Are The Most Fined NBA Teams of the Last Decade

When we look at the data over the last ten years it tells a different story.

Brooklyn Nets players have been fined a grand total of $19,068,260 over the last decade. $17,575,271 of this fine amount is stemming from Kyrie Irving - dazzling with his handles on the court, whilst being outspoken off the court as well. 

The 76ers have also incurred hefty penalties in the last decade - to the tune of $18,871,176! 

These are the only two teams in the last year to be fined over $10 million.

Kyrie Irving stands out as the most fined player of the last decade - paying out $17,651,271.
