DAL @ MEM Odds

We were on the right side of the Grizzlies spread this past Tuesday as they nearly completed a remarkable 20-point comeback on the road against the Golden State Warriors - we are going to dive back into the Memphis well tonight.

Ever since the firing of head coach Taylor Jenkins, Ja Morant’s usage has ascended, and it has helped the Grizzlies on the offensive end. He’s scored 28+ in four of his last six and has a great matchup here. Although Dallas is a great defensive team, they do not have any guards on the perimeter that can match Morant’s athleticism.

On the other end, ever since star guard Kyrie Irving suffered a season-ending injury, the Mavericks have really struggled to generate any offense.

Although their 120-point outing on Wednesday may appear encouraging, it was most likely more of a mirage than an actual change. Not only has Sacramento been one of basketball’s worst defensive teams all year, but Dallas was also able to shoot 50% from 3-point land. Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, and Brandon Williams combined for 11 makes on 17 attempts in the winning effort. This isn’t a replicable formula.

For Dallas, Naji Marshall and Dante Exum are the primary facilitators. At the same time, the Grizzlies have an arsenal of guards like Morant, Desmond Bane, and even Scottie Pippen Jr., who can generate offense and they can lean on. The backcourt advantage is incredibly apparent for Memphis.

In addition, although I expect Anthony Davis to have some success, Jaren Jackson III should be a decent matchup to contain the Brow. Davis is already battling an abdomen injury and just logged 37 minutes this past Wednesday.

With a rest disadvantage, where Dallas is flying across the country, I expect Memphis to take care of business here. Despite the convincing win this past Wednesday, there’s a reason this line is so big. Memphis has a lot of matchup advantages here and should cruise.
