NBA: Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns: Pick & Prediction

NBA: Los Angeles Clippers at Phoenix Suns: Pick & Prediction

For late-night TNT, NBA fans can tune into two teams looking to turn around their seasons in the Los Angeles Clippers and Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix has been one of basketball's most disappointing teams, as they've lost eight of their last ten, including losses to the Pelicans, Spurs, and Raptors. On the other end, LA has lost five of their last six as Norman Powell has been sidelined with a hamstring injury during that time.

Each of these teams has the opportunity to turn around their misfortunes in a winnable game. The Suns currently trail the Dallas Mavericks by 3.5 games for the last spot in the NBA Play-In, while the Clippers are currently slotted as the 7-seed at 32-28.

Check out our in-depth preview and prediction below of what should be an enticing matchup.

LAC @ PHX Odds

Despite the Suns having relative success in their previous head-to-head matchups, the Clippers are short favorites on the road. The Suns have won the previous three matchups between these two, albeit by just a combined 11 points, which includes an overtime win.

As we dive into this matchup, bettors will almost certainly be looking to one side, and it's tough to blame them. It's hard for anybody to justify spending their hard-earned money on the Suns. Not only is this team the worst team in the NBA in terms of covering the spread, but they're only seemingly continuing to decline as they've failed to cover in five of seven since the All-Star Break.

However, the Clippers will be without Norm Powell, Derrick Jones Jr., and Ben Simmons. Be sure to check on the injury report for this game, as Kawhi Leonard has been a late scratch quite often this year.

The Clips have been one of the league's best on the defensive end, currently ranked as the league's 4th best in efficiency. However, they'll be without two of their best and most versatile defenders, DJJ and Simmons, who will be sorely missed against Kevin Durant

Furthermore, they've really struggled to carry the load on the offensive end without Powell.

As tempting as it is to take Phoenix, I'm not willing to do it. Instead, I'm going to look towards their top playmaker.

The Clippers sorely lack any rim protection, and will be without potentially their three best defenders. On national television, I'm willing to bet on Devin Booker turning it around in this spot and being aggressive here.

The four-time All-Star has eclipsed 20+ shots in four of his last six and has played in 35+ minutes in each one. As the season comes to a close, the urgency remains high in Phoenix. Look for them to continue to lean into their star guard as he has a really advantageous matchup here.
