The 7-seeded Warriors will host the young Grizzlies in the Chase Center at 10:00 PM EST on TNT. The winner of this game will advance to the Western Conference Playoffs, where they will take on the surprising two-seeded Houston Rockets.

This is a huge game - the winner gets a nice draw in the first round, while the loser is on the brink of elimination with the potential to play the Western Conference favorite, Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Warriors are 23-7 since acquiring Jimmy Butler and still ended up in the play-in round. This is not a knock on Golden State, and it is more of an indication of how good the Western Conference was down the stretch of the regular season.

With the emergence of Jimmy Butler and the presence of Steph Curry, Golden State is going to be a tough draw for anyone. And receiving contributions from the likes of Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody doesn’t hurt, either.

Golden State is rightfully the favorite here, but is it too many points? Jimmy Butler was on the wrong end of a collision against LA in the regular season finale and appears to banged up heading into tonight.

On the other end, for as hot as the middle pack of the West is, Memphis certainly does not fit that bill. The Grizzlies were as high as the two-seed in the middle of the regular season and slowly spiraled all the way down to the current 8-seed.

As a result of their disappointing finish, in a shocking move, the Grizzlies fired head coach Taylor Jenkins a few weeks back.

Despite the rough finish, Memphis has been better than you think. In their last five games, Memphis and Golden State rank 10th and 11th in the NBA’s Net Rating, respectively. After losing four straight to the likes of Boston, LA, Golden State, and Oklahoma City at the end of March, the Grizzlies got it together and won four of their last six, including a win at Detroit early last week.

I’m not saying Memphis is going to go into the Chase Center and beat Steph at home, but this is a massive game for both teams, and they know it. Memphis has to be salivating at the chance of drawing Houston instead of OKC. And no one will give Memphis a chance in this one - expect the Grizzlies to play free and keep this one close. Ja Morant has been playing much better since the departure of Jenkins and gets a nice matchup against GS who lacks a true rim protector.

Seven points is just too many.
