The Memphis Grizzlies travel to South Beach to try to right the ship against the surging Miami Heat, who are winners of six straight, including a decisive victory at Boston last night.

These teams are heading in opposite directions as the Grizz have lost four straight by an average margin of 12.7 points. In addition, in a shocking move, Memphis elected to fire Taylor Jenkins last week just before the conclusion of the regular season in an attempt to kickstart the team before the postseason.

MEM @ MIA Odds

The Grizzlies hit a low point this past Tuesday after blowing a late lead to the Golden State Warriors.

However, despite their recent spiral, I like their chances to bounce back tonight for a few reasons. First, this is a tough situational spot for Miami, which is playing their third game in four days, as well as on a back-to-back, where they were in Boston last night and will be at home tonight.

While the Grizzlies will be motivated by their recent embarrassing loss, don’t be surprised if the Heat are sleepwalking into this one coming off an emotional win.

Second, with a closer look at Memphis’s recent losing skid, it’s against much better competition than the Miami Heat. In each of their four losses, Memphis lost to four of the top six NBA title favorites in the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors, where Memphis was really competitive in three of these contests.

And finally, on paper, this is a good matchup for Memphis. These teams squared off two weeks ago, where Memphis took care of business, 125-91.

Although Miami has shifted around some personnel since then, relying more heavily on the likes of Pelle Larsson, Alec Burks, and Davion Mitchell, Jaren Jackson Jr.’s versatility should be an issue for Miami. JJJ finished with 31 points in their first matchup, while Memphis was dominant on the glass. I expect rookie Kel’el Ware to have his hands full, as Ja Morant should be able to finish around the rim consistently, and Jackson Jr. should play well in this one.

These teams are heading in opposite direction, but don't let that scare you off Memphis. Let's sell high on the Heat and buy low on Memphis here.

PICK: GRIZZLIES -4.5
