NBA Eastern Conference: Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks Preview, Prediction

Amidst the ongoing Jimmy Butler saga, the Miami Heat (21-21) begin a two-game road trip when they face the host Milwaukee Bucks (24-17) on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (EST).

The Heat suspended Butler for the Bucks game along with Saturday’s game at the Brooklyn Nets for missing the team’s flight to Milwaukee. Butler played the last two games coming off a seven-game suspension for "multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team."

Butler is seeking a trade from the Heat prior to the Feb. 6 deadline. The six-time All-Star reportedly is open to the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The Heat are coming off a 116-107 home loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. In his first career start, rookie center Kel’el Ware tallied a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds as well as two blocks.

Tyler Herro, the Heat’s leading scorer (24.0 points per game), missed the contest with a groin injury but is listed as probable to play vs. the Bucks.

The Heat have allowed at least 107 points in each of the last five games, going 1-4 in that span. This will be the Heat’s 22nd game this season against an opponent over .500. The Heat are 10-11 in these scenarios.

Meanwhile, the Bucks are riding a four-game winning streak that has catapulted them to fourth place in the East. The Bucks have scored at least 122 points in all four victories.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is having another excellent season with averages of 31.5 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.

The Bucks’ game at the New Orleans Pelicans slated for Wednesday was postponed because of weather conditions.

The Bucks most recently defeated the visiting Philadelphia 76ers 123-109. Antetokounmpo finished with a double-double of 34 points and 15 rebounds, plus six assists. Damian Lillard had 25 points and five rebounds.

In the first meeting on Nov. 26, the Bucks edged the host Heat 106-103 despite being without Antetokounmpo. Lillard led the way with 37 points and 12 assists.

Antetokounmpo (patella) is listed as a game-time decision for tonight’s game. Khris Middleton (ankle) remains day to day.

The Bucks are 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Heat have lost six of their last 10 games.

The total is set at 226.5 and the Heat are +230 and the Bucks are -280 for the moneyline at ESPN BET.

With the drama surrounding the Heat and the Bucks recent travel issues, this game could go either way.

The Heat will battle to cover the spread (+6.5) but the Bucks will earn another narrow victory vs. Miami to extend their winning streak to five.

PICK: HEAT +7.5
