NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers Pick & Prediction

In the second game of a loaded doubleheader on TNT, the Timberwolves will try to build on their series lead after a decisive 117-95 victory over the Lakers in Game 1.

The Lakers struggled to get in any rhythm on offense as the T-Wolves' length consistently bothered them.

Although LA superstar Luka Doncic finished with a game-high 37 points, he only had one assist as LeBron James and Austin Reaves weren’t able to get anything going.

Tonight marks a must-win for LA - Minnesota is playing with house money in this spot as they’ve flipped the home-court advantage.

Although Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle, and Naz Reid are unlikely to replicate a combined 13-for-18 performance from beyond the arc, we have to remember Minny is going to continue to get these great looks if LA is adamant about doubling Anthony Edwards.

Antman was only able to chip in 22 in the win, but he was their main facilitator with nine assists in the winning effort, as the Lakers don’t have a comfortable 1-on-1 matchup for him.

If these struggles continue, Lakers head coach JJ Redick may be forced to adjust and resort to playing Edwards straight up. If that’s the case, I’m not sure it’ll be much better for LA.

In addition, Minny is the much deeper team in this series. Their bench outscored LA 43-13 in game one as Donte DiVincenzo, Nickell Alexander-Walker, and Naz Reid headline a loaded bench. 

The Lakers will have a much greater sense of urgency here, as they absolutely need to win this one before heading back to Minnesota for games three and four.

But the Timberwolves should have the mental edge. Not only does Edwards know how to break down LA offensively, but the T-Wolves as a whole should be loose in this road spot. If LA trails early, expect a tense home crowd that could play against Luka and co.
