NBA: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Brooklyn Nets Preview, Prediction 

The Oklahoma City Thunder (46-11) take on the host Brooklyn Nets (21-36) on Wednesday night (7:30 p.m. ET). 

The Western Conference leading Thunder are looking to avoid a losing streak after falling 131-128 in overtime to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Oklahoma City surrendered a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter en route to the crushing loss. 

The Thunder are 8-2 in their last 10 games and only have one losing streak this season. That occurred with back-to-back losses in November to the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs.

The Nets have been better lately with a 4-2 mark in their last six games as they attempt to qualify for the play-in. However, Brooklyn is coming off a 107-99 loss at the Washington Wizards. 

The Nets are just 9-18 at home. The Thunder are a strong road team with a 20-7 away mark. 

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams will carve up the Nets defense. The versatile All-Stars are playmakers not just for themselves but also their teammates as they lead the Thunder in points and assists. 

The Nets actually have the best defensive rating in the league in the last 10 games. But the Nets will regress back to their old ways against the NBA’s No. 4 squad in points per game. 

On the other end, the Thunder will thwart a limited Nets offense that will be without Nic Claxton, D’Angelo Russell, Noah Clowney, Cam Thomas and possibly Cameron Johnson (game-time decision). Oklahoma City is tops in defensive rating and points per game this season. 

Also, the Thunder’s front court featuring Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein is too imposing for the Nets minus Claxton. 

The Thunder are favored by 17 points and the total is set for 216 at bet365. For the moneyline it’s Thunder -1600 and Nets +900. 

The Thunder are eager to avenge themselves after their last heartbreaking loss and will cruise to a commanding road victory in Brooklyn.
