Brooklyn Nets -5.5 (-110) @ SAS

Brooklyn has now lost back-to-back games in the absence of Kevin Durant. However, prior to their latest two-game skid, the Nets had won 14 of their last 16 contests, while leading the league in both scoring and offensive rating by a distant margin during that stretch.

Clearly, this Brooklyn team is far less dangerous in the absence of their top scoring threat, highlighted by the Nets averaging just 100 PPG on 44% from the field in their last two contests without KD.

Make no mistake, though, even in the absence of Durant, the Nets are still much better than this San Antonio squad that currently ranks dead last in the league in defensive rating and 28th in offensive rating.

So, I’ll back Brooklyn to get back on track in Tuesday’s contest against a Spurs team that’s now lost eight of their last nine games, with four of those losses coming by a margin of 8+ points.

Kyrie Irving (BKN) Over 5.5 Assists (-105)

The Nets, as a whole, have struggled without Durant the last few games. And surprisingly, Kyrie Iriving has been no exception to the claim, considering the seven-time All-Star is averaging just 19.5 PPG on 36% from the field since KD’s latest injury, resulting in a pair of double-digit losses for Brooklyn during that span.

However, without Durant on the floor for Brooklyn, his overall usage at the offensive end inevitably continues to rise, highlighted by Kyrie recording six assists in each of Brooklyn’s last two contests.

So, I’ll back Irving to have another solid night in the passing department tonight, as he’s now tallied 6+ assists in seven of his last ten outings, and we’ll probably see that trend continue in Tuesday’s matchup against a Spurs squad that ranks Top 5 in the league in pace and Bottom 5 in defensive rating.

Sixers-Clippers Over 223 (-110)

  • Matchup: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
  • TV-Time: TNT, 10:00 p.m. ET

Neither of these teams are known for playing particularly fast, highlighted by the Clippers currently ranking 23rd in the league in pace at 98.3, and the Sixers ranking 15th in pace at 100.7.

The Sixers are red-hot now, though, and the majority of their recent success has come through an upbeat run-and-gun style of play, considering the Sixers have posted a solid record of 15-4 in their last 19 games, while racking up a lofty average of 120 PPG across that stretch.

While on the other hand, the Clippers rank 29th in the league in scoring at 109 PPG, however, they’ve also been flexing their muscles in the scoring department recently, considering L. A. has averaged over 115 PPG across their last 13 games, with five of those performances ringing in north of the 120-point mark.

Tread with caution, though. The Clippers have also fallen short of the 110-point mark in three of their last six contests. So, nothing is guaranteed with this L. A. team. But in order to compete with Philly tonight, they’ll probably need to crank up the pace against a Sixers squad that’s generated 115+ points in nine of their last 13 outings.
