GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS vs. SACRAMENTO KINGS BETTING PREDICTION

Despite finishing sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 44-38 this season, the Warriors still opened their first round playoff matchup as steep -260 favorites over the third-seeded Kings, which certainly didn’t come as a total surprise given the history of this Golden State’ team, however, Sacramento immediately flipped the script in the waking days of the series, as the Kings rumbled to a pair of home victories in Games 1 and 2, and then hit the road for Game 3 in San Francisco as -175 favorites to advance to the second round.

Even the most adamant Warriors’ bettors could still easily argue that the first two matchups of this series turned out exactly as expected, though. The Warriors posted a miserable record of 10-31 on the road during the regular season, while ranking 23rd in the league in net rating in those contests. So, the fact that they dropped Games 1 and 2 was never an overly worrisome notion regarding their ability to bounce back at home, highlighted by Golden State getting tagged as a six-point favorite in Game 3, despite trailing in the series 2-0 at that point and time.

On the other side of that same coin, though, the Warriors are a completely different team on their homefloor, and their discrepancy in performance based on game location was on full display in Games 3 and 4 as Golden State erupted for 120 PPG on 45% FG and 36% 3P in back-to-back home wins to even the series, and now, to muddy the waters even more,  De’Aaron Fox is listed as doubtful for the Kings due to a finger injury ahead of Game 5.

In the first two matchups of this series, Sacramento managed to escape with a pair of wins despite posting relatively modest clips on offense, highlighted the Kings shooting just 45% FG and 30% 3FG in Games 1 and 2, which was good enough to skate by at home, but well short of the production level needed to contend with Golden State in a hostile environment, as shown in Games 3 and 4.

In the aftermath of Fox’s injury, Golden State appears to have the clear upper-hand in regards to scoring offense as we brace for the homestretch; but, can we really trust the Warriors to win one of their next two road games under any given set of circumstances?

There’s no denying the fact that Fox’s injury is going to be a crucial blow for the Kings moving forward, but with two home games still left on the docket in this series for Sacramento, it may be unwise to hitch your wagon to a Warriors’ squad that’s posted miserable records of 11-32 SU and 11-30-1 ATS on the road this year. Take the points with Sacramento in Game 5.
