Week 7 of the NFL regular season concludes with Monday Night Football between the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings. Coverage begins from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC.

49ers vs Vikings Picks, Betting Prediction & Odds for Monday Night Football Week 7

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline

Not only did the 49ers fall to 5-1 with their first loss of the season in Cleveland last week, but they also suffered some serious battle wounds along the way as WR Deebo Samuel has already been ruled out for Monday’s contest with a shoulder injury, OT Trent Williams is listed as doubtful with an ankle issue, and Christian McCaffrey is questionable with an oblique strain.

According to VegasInsider’s Patrick Everson, the SuperBook closed the lookahead line for this contest at San Francisco -7.5, but that number was adjusted due to all the uncertainty with injuries for the Niners offense, briefly moving to -6.5 and then back to -7, which is where it holds as of Sunday morning. Following the Vikings 19-13 win over Chicago last week, SuperBook risk advisor Chase Michaelson said, "Minnesota didn't look great today…the line movement is simply a reflection of what we don't know in regards to San Fran's health."

So, with San Francisco potentially down three of its best players, the line for this contest has drifted towards Minnesota, however, it’s only moved half-a-point from the lookahead line, and quite frankly, while the 49ers are still the far superior team in this matchup, even with a crowded injury report, it appears that the potential absence of Trent Williams isn’t factoring into the equation nearly enough.

Over the last few years, several San Francisco RBs have gone down with injuries, and many times, we’ve seen the next man in the pecking order step up perform beautifully. However, as we’re likely soon to be reminded, the only reason this offense has been able to survive so many injury woes in the past is because of the pure dominance of Williams in the trenches. Without him (and possibly McCaffrey), I doubt the Niners rushing attack will find its usual amount of success against a Minnesota defensive front that ranks ninth in yards allowed per carry.

On the flip side, Kirk Cousins is infamous for his struggles in primetime, especially on Monday Night Football. According to Action Network’s Evan Abrams, Cousins owns career records of 11-19 SU and 12-18 ATS in night games, as well as 2-10 SU and ATS in Monday night games – the worst MNF record by any QB in the modern NFL era. Adamant defenders of Cousins will argue that he hasn’t had much defensive help, but when it comes to his Monday Night Football stats, Cousins deserves the brunt of the blame, considering his teams averaged just 16.5 points per game in those 12 outings.

All things considered, the Niners should still be able to win this game through a strong aerial attack and suffocating defensive performance. But I think it’s going to be ugly, and far more difficult than some may expect. Give me the under on Monday night.

San Francisco 49ers Betting Analysis

Trent Williams is in his fourth campaign with the 49ers, and he has been the highest graded OT in the entire league by PFF in three straight seasons. Including the playoffs, Williams took 526 pass blocking snaps and allowed just 19 QB pressures last year, with just three resulting in a hit or sack. Very few teams repeatedly run the ball behind the same lineman as much the 49ers do, and that one lineman is Williams. All that just to say, Williams will be sorely missed if he is unable to go on Monday night.

Minnesota Vikings Betting Analysis

Kirk Cousins’ abysmal struggles in primetime are very well documented over the years, especially on Mondays. Cousins has thrown 11 interceptions in his 12 appearances on Monday Night Football, and now this week, he draws a primetime matchup against a top-ranked Niners defense that has already forced 11 turnovers in six games this season.

Cousins has thrown four interceptions in the Vikings last four contests. Even if you are taking the points with Minnesota in this spot, Cousins interception props might still be worth a look.
