In the third week of NFL action, all eyes are on the betting odds as the regular season ramps up. The Seahawks look to build off an overtime win as they welcome the 0-2 Panthers to Lumen Field on Sunday, September 24 at 4:05 p.m. ET on CBS.

Carolina Panthers vs Seattle Seahawks Odds

• Opening point spread: Seahawks -4.5
• Opening moneyline: Seahawks -220/Carolina +180
• Opening total: Over/Under 43 points scored
• Time: 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday (CBS)

UPDATE 3:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Shortly before kickoff, Seattle is down to -4.5 at TwinSpires Sportsbook, after sitting as high as -6. The Seahawks are taking 65% of spread bets/53% of spread money.

"Sharp action on the Andy Dalton-led Panthers at +6," TwinSpires director of retail sports Zachary Lucas said.

Dalton is starting today in place of injured rookie Bryce Young (ankle).

TwinSpires total is at 42.5, with 54% of tickets on the Over/62% of money on the Under.

UPDATE 3 P.M. ET FRIDAY: The Seahawks opened as 4.5-point favorites at BetMGM and touched -6.5 multiple times this week. Late this morning, Seattle fell back to -5.5, where the line sits now.

The Seahawks are landing 72% of early spread bets, but 53% of early spread money is on the underdog Panthers. Carolina will be without rookie QB and No. 1 overall draft pick Bryce Young (ankle). Longtime NFL QB Andy Dalton will start for the Panthers.

"Bettors have little faith in many of the 0-2 NFC teams," BetMGM trader Christian Cipollini said. "As a result, the Bears, Cardinals and Panthers covering as underdogs are the most important needs for the book this weekend."

The total moved from 42.5 to 42 Tuesday at BetMGM, and it hasn't moved since. Ticket count is almost 2/1 and money 5/1 on the Under.

UPDATE 11:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Seattle rebounded nicely from a Week 1 home loss to the L.A. Rams. The Seahawks (1-1 SU and ATS) went to Detroit as 4.5-point 'dogs and snagged a 37-31 overtime victory.

Carolina (0-2 SU, 0-1-1 ATS) looks to get on track after losing its first two games to division foes, capped off by Monday's 20-17 home defeat to New Orleans.

Panthers vs Seahawks Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

The Panthers are another one of those Kitchen Sink teams at 0-2 both SU and ATS. Since they also lost by three on Monday night, Carolina fits every one of those Kitchen Sink trends at the top.

No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young is not expected to play. That would leave veteran Andy Dalton making the start in relief. As an underdog of a TD or less, Dalton is 42-26-2 ATS lifetime (62%).

The Kitchen Sink trends all back the Panthers, and this is a great matchup spot, too. The Panthers defense has been good, and the pass defense looks elite at No. 5 in DVOA. Brian Burns is back and wreaking havoc, and he and the pass rush could make life miserable for the Seahawks, who are still missing both tackles.

Geno Smith has struggled his entire career under pressure. Seattle was only 2-6 SU against defenses that finished in the top half of the league by DVOA last season, losing by almost a TD a game, and that as a playoff team. The Panthers physically manhandled the Seahawks in December, running 46 times for 223 yards and forcing Smith into three sacks and two interceptions. Carolina can hang and even win this.
