Week 3 of the NFL season is in full swing, with the odds taking center stage as the action unfolds. The Texans travel to Jacksonville for an AFC South showdown on Sunday, September 24 at 1:00 p.m. ET, with FOX bringing you all the live action.

Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars Odds

• Opening point spread: Jaguars -9.5
• Opening moneyline: Jaguars -500/Texans +375
• Opening total: Over/Under 45.5 points scored
• Time: 1 p.m. ET Sunday (FOX)

UPDATE 10:30 A.M. ET SUNDAY: Jacksonville backed up even further since Friday at BetMGM (see below). The Jags are now -7.5 (-105) at home, after sitting as high as -10 early in the week.

Houston is getting 57% of spread bets/63% of spread cash.

The total fell from 45.5 to 43.5 by Wednesday, got to 44.5 Thursday, then went back to 43.5 by Saturday. The Over is drawing 70% of bets/54% of money.

UPDATE 2:30 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM initially nudged Jacksonville from -9.5 to -10 Tuesday night. But the number returned to -9.5 Wednesday, then receded to Jags -9 and -8.5 Thursday.

Houston is a trendy 'dog at BetMGM, attracting 76% of early tickets/81% of early dollars on the spread. Further, on the moneyline, the Texans are nabbing 62% of tickets/86% of cash. BetMGM's moneyline opened Jags -450/Texans and is now -400/+310.

The total opened at 45.5, bottomed out at 43.5 Wednesday and rebounded to 44.5 Thursday. Ticket count is 3/1-plus and money 9/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 11:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Jacksonville (1-1 SU and ATS) held Kansas City's offensive relatively in check, but only got three field goals of its own. As such, the Jags lost 17-9 getting 3 points at home.

Houston (0-2 SU and ATS) lost 31-20 as 1-point home chalk against Indianapolis.

Texans vs Jaguars Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

The Jaguars dominated the Texans in January, but Houston had won nine straight in this division rivalry before that.

Trevor Lawrence is 2-6 ATS as a favorite, including 0-4 as a favorite of four or more. Three of those four came against the Texans and were all outright losses as a heavy favorite.

The Texans are another Kitchen Sink team, and they're my favorite one on the slate.

It's been ugly for Houston so far, but it's not just the Texans' fault. Houston was missing four of its five offensive linemen Sunday plus both starting safeties, and this line reflects what the Texans have looked like through two weeks, but not what they can be healthy. We should get closer to that this week with stud LT Laremy Tunsil back and S Jimmie Ward finally making his debut.

Jacksonville ranks 31st in Pass Rush Win Rate, so C.J. Stroud should have time to stand and deliver, while Houston ranks seventh itself and could get after Trevor Lawrence behind an equally porous Jacksonville line. The Jaguars offense hasn't found its way with Press Taylor calling the plays, ranking bottom five in many advanced metrics. Houston has to have this to save its season. Kitchen Sink time.
