The Week 5 NFL betting odds have the Steelers tagged as 4.5-point home underdogs against the Ravens in this AFC North clash. Coverage begins from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Sunday, October 8 at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

Baltimore Ravens vs Pittsburgh Steelers Odds

• Opening point spread: Ravens -4
• Opening moneyline: Ravens -240/Steelers +190
• Opening total: Over/Under 40.5 points scored
• Time: 1 p.m. ET Sunday (CBS)

UPDATE 10:30 A.M. ET SUNDAY: Interestingly, the Steelers are taking the third-most spread money of any team in the NFL odds Week 5 market at BetMGM. That said, the Ravens briefly advanced from -4.5 to -5 this morning, before returning to -4.5.

Spread tickets are almost dead even, while 59% of spread cash is on Pittsburgh.

The total is up a tick from Friday to 38.5 (see below update). Action remains lopsided to the Under, with tickets 4/1 and money 9/1.

UPDATE 4 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM spent the early part of the week bouncing between Ravens -3.5 and -4. On Thursday, Baltimore climbed to -4.5, and the Ravens are now -4.5 (-105).

It's two-way spread play, with 54% of early tickets on the Ravens/58% of early money on the Steelers. Interestingly, BetMGM reports that Baltimore is the third-most-bet team by ticket count, while Pittsburgh is the third-most-bet team by money.

The total opened at 40.5 and bottomed out Tuesday at 38, with multiple stops along the way. It's still at 38, with ticket count almost 5/1 and money beyond 9/1 on the Under.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Baltimore (3-1 SU and ATS) looks pretty good so far this season. In Week 4, the Ravens drilled Cleveland 28-3 as 1.5-point road faves.

Pittsburgh (2-2 SU and ATS) went to Houston as a 3-point chalk and got embarrassed in a 30-6 blowout loss.

Ravens vs Steelers Pick, Prediction

There's no doubt Pittsburgh is banged up and that Matt Canada's offense looks completely outmatched, especially against a Baltimore defense playing really well. But you've been watching Steelers games long enough to know that doesn't matter much in this rivalry. Just play the spot.

The Steelers have won five of six against the Ravens, and the underdog has covered 11 straight in this rivalry. Last week was a classic Mike Tomlin letdown. This week is a classic "Rah Rah" Tomlin underdog spot. Just look at the overwhelming Tomlin trends in our favor, all from Week 5 forward:

• As an underdog: 42-17-1 ATS (71%)
• As an underdog of 7 or less: 39-12-1 ATS (76%)
• As a home dog: 14-3-1 ATS (82%)
• As a division dog: 20-4-1 ATS (83%)
• As an underdog coming off a loss by 7 or more: 8-1 ATS (89%)

This is exactly where we bet on Tomlin — as an underdog, at home, in a division game, off a deflating loss. You always want the dog in this rivalry. When Tomlin and John Harbaugh face off, the underdog is 22-5-3 ATS (81%). And one of my favorite stats: since 2005, underdogs in this rivalry when the line is three or higher are an unreal 18-2 ATS (90%).
