Week 9 of the NFL season continues with an afternoon non-conference battle between the Buccaneers and Texans. The betting odds favor Houston by roughly a field goal despite posting an ugly loss to the winless Panthers last week. Coverage begins from NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Houston Texans Odds

• Opening point spread: Texans -2.5
• Opening moneyline: Texans -150/Buccaneers +130
• Opening total: Over/Under 38.5 points scored
• Time: 1 p.m. ET Sunday (CBS)

UPDATE 10:30 A.M. ET SUNDAY: Caesars has been steady at Texans -2.5 (-120) throughout the week. Tampa Bay is taking 58% of spread bets, while 55% of spread cash is on Houston.

The total advanced from 38.5 to 39 and 40, all by lunchtime Monday. It's now 40 (Under -115). Current Caesars splits aren't available.

UPDATE 5 P.M. ET FRIDAY: BetMGM opened Houston as 2.5-point chalk Sunday night. On Monday morning, the Texans went to -3 (-105) for literally 25 minutes, then receded to -2.5 (-115).

That's where the number remained all week, with Houston landing 65% of spread tickets/60% of spread money.

The total opened at 38.5 and on Monday morning climbed to 39 and 40. There's been no movement since, with 62% of tickets and a hefty 87% of dollars on the Under.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Tampa Bay is coming off a mini-bye, having played in the Week 8 Thursday nighter. The Buccaneers (3-4 SU/4-3 ATS) lost to Buffalo 24-18, but cashed as 10-point road underdogs.

Houston (3-4 SU/4-3 ATS) lost a 15-13 rock fight of a game as a 3.5-point fave at Carolina. The Texans fell on a final-seconds field goal, ending a 3-1 SU/4-0 ATS surge.

"The Texans have played some good football this year. But we saw what making them a field-goal-plus favorite looked like today," Michaelson said. "I would imagine anything 3 or higher would be an invitation to the wiseguys on the 'dog."

Buccaneers vs Texans Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

It doesn't make sense that books are treating these teams as equals on a neutral field. Houston is inconsistent, but better. The Texans' offense has been far better than Tampa's. Neither team can run the ball, but C.J. Stroud and Houston's passing game have been outstanding and have the clear edge here.

Houston can win this game in the trenches. The Bucs haven't rushed the passer well, so Houston's healthier offensive line can give Stroud time to succeed, and a terrific Texans' defensive line can win against the Bucs makeshift line and put Baker Mayfield under pressure.
